Some say this is a no win deal for LSU. I think LSU was somewhat forced to consider the agreement because rent-a-win schools are becoming less available. Many are even demanding 1 for 1 contracts with the buyers. It has become a sellers market. Tulane simply had much more to offer an LSu and an Ole Miss as a travel date then did the Applechain States of the world.

I'm glad that Rick Dickson followed my advice and scheduled a couple of SEC teams.

<a href='http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/confusa/invision/index.php?act=ST&f=20&t=24867' target='_blank'>From 4/29/05</a>

With those 2 teams on the schedule, I look for attendance to increase to the levels of the 70's, early 80's.

One other point, I don't believe that these deals (LSU/Ole Miss) would have been doable if we played in our own 35,000 seat stadium. I think all Tulane fans should rethink their position on a new, smaller stadium.

I believe those people who insist on a smaller stadium have not had the experience of a 40,000 plus Tulane game in the dome. This new agreement will give them something to consider.

Exactly. And one other thing I believe younger Tulane fans heven't experienced: Tulane fans come out of the woodwork to see Tulane-LSU games. If we have 30,000 - 35,000 tickets to sell for the LSU game, all of a sudden you will see that many Tulane fans actually at a Tulane game in the Superdome. That is, assuming we believe we have a chance to win.

I also look for us to average 50,000+ for Ole Miss. For some reason, Ole Miss is a bigger draw here than Mississippi State. I don't know if it's true, but my impression is that more locals go to Ole Miss than State.
