LOL.
Sadly, the BYU situation is just as worst as Baylor. BYU also need to fire some people that booted victims of rape out of school. They booted more than one victim. CNN did a report on this situation. BYU is coming under a storm just like Baylor. Booting victims of being raped is uncalled for. They did nothing to break any code of conduct.
I'm not sure how you can make such a claim. If you look at the BYU situations, they involve situations like a student dropping acid with a bunch of friends and then she gets raped by one of them. She ended up getting booted for 1 year for dropping acid which is against the Honor Code (illegal drug use). The latest story is one where a student was raped by a non-BYU student off-campus. One of the investigators passed the report to BYU's honor code office claiming he wanted to make sure they knew of an athlete's involvement. Odd thing is there was no athlete in the report--just this student. Long story short, there is something in the report that documents violations of the Honor Code (what it is the public doesn't know). The school wanted to talk with her about it and requested a meeting. But she refuses to meet with them because it all happened off-campus and the criminal investigation is still ongoing. BYU allowed her to register and attend for Winter semester in spite of the outstanding honor code issue. But since she continues to refuse to meet with the school about it they put her on a registration freeze for the new academic year until she does meet with them. So now she is leaving school and filed a lawsuit against the school (not sure if it is going to go anywhere though). Is that the same as hushing victims and covering up incidents by the athletic department? BYU's athletic department isn't even involved in these issues.
The debate and discussion around campus now is whether or not the policy should be adjusted to be more lenient of Honor Code violations when a sexual assault is involved to be more supportive in reporting and prosecuting without fear of damaging their own standing at the university. That discussion is healthy and welcome in my view. But hardly the same as the accusations at Baylor.
Right, the fact there is debate and discussion around campus on policy involving sexual assaults and the term "rape culture" used by multiple people in regards to BYU is what makes it such a tricky situation at the present time. Like I said previously, if this had happened at any time other than right now, BYU would be a lock as far as I am concerned. Because of the particular timing, I still think BYU is likely, just not a lock.
Aw...you are right. BYU is discussing ways to help eliminate "rape culture" so the Big 12 will just invite Memphis instead.
I dont think "instead" is the word you are looking for...
