Ark St gets either 5 first, 2 second, 3 third, 1 fourth or 5 first, 1 second, 5 thirds - I can't see them getting any fifths.

Ehh polls. Three horse race with a usual dark horse coming out of nowhere...

I have a bad gut feeling about our offensively philosophy this year. I think we are going to try and pound a square passing heavy peg in a should be running with these QB's round hole. If we have hard headed coaches like in the VanDumber era I could easily see us lose four conference games.

That's only because stAte (usually last year's champ) never gets picked. If we did get picked then the voters in this poll would be patting themselves on the back amazed at how smart they are.

Picked Champion rarely wins. I think the Cajuns were picked first in 2013 and shared the title, but outside of that, it's happened like once in 10 years.

I think the real curse is that AState has not been picked to win a conference football title since the 1980's. That's normally a statistic that accompany's teams with little history of winning, not one with 4 titles in 5 years. That being said, with App's QB and entire team back, its hard to not pick them 1.

I would like to know that if the preseason poll allowed you to pick a shared title, how many coaches would have picked AState and App to tie for first since we don't play? That might have been more interesting.

GS is the wild card in this race, as much talent as App and Ark St, but dam, what a killer schedule. As far as the new staff, if the HC is smart, he will not make too many radical changes to the offense, but if he tries to change too much too quickly, then it could be a rough season.

Agreed. I'd be tempted to pick GS to win any single game on their schedule (save for Ole Miss), but they have a brutal stretch through all of October and into early November. If they get through that with just one loss, I'd be more impressed at that than anything the Eagles did in 2014 or 2015.

ya, I wouldn't go as far to remotely pick GS win every game accept Old Miss, even with a favorable schedule, I think you guys will have a good season, but if I was betting you fall a game or two short of the conference championship.

There's a difference in saying you could pick them to win and saying they're favored.

I'd pick us to win every game except Ole Miss, based on what I know about the talent on our team. Obviously that goes out the door if the coaching doesn't back up the talent and put us in position to win. I think we could have a pretty good shot against Ole Miss too...but I'd have to see how both of us perform leading up to that game to get a better idea of how to feel about it.

We definitely have the ability to win all of those games. But they've still got to be played, and there's no guarantees.

Honestly, if we can just complete 50% of our passes no one on our schedule should be able to stop our offense. The receiver position is definitely improved with the additions to the roster for this season. The big question mark is coaching. I'm still trying to figure out how dual offensive coordinators with a defensive head coach works.
