RE: CFB: Toledo @ Kentucky - 2019
As of today, here's a look at our 2019 non-conference schedule:

Aug. 31 - @ Kentucky
Sept. 21 - @ Colorado State
Sept. 28 - vs. BYU

Those are 3 quality opponents that will present a very tough challenge for our Rockets, but I'm liking what I'm seeing. We'll probably add an FCS opponent at home for the 4th OOC game.

So when is Kentucky scheduled to visit the Glass Bowl?

I seriously doubt that Kentucky has the loot to pay out for those big money games the way the real big boys do, so I can't imagine playing Kentucky under any situation than a one-for-one, home and away basis.

Surely O'Brien knows the difference between Kentucky football and Kentucky basketball. Bear Bryant sure did and that is why he left Kentucky for Texas A&M.

It is one thing to have to add another FCS team on your home schedule in order to be able to play a REAL one-and-done money game like tOSU, Michigan, Florida, Arkansas, etc......but Kentucky?????? If this is a one-and-one deal then unless they are paying out a whole more than I suspect they are capable of paying out, I would describe this scheduling as being analogous to going from being a high class call girl to a lowly street walker.

Kentucky paid ULM $1,000,0000 for an October game in 2014. Sitting in 61,000 seat Commonwealth Stadium in late August seems good to me.
Maybe I can take some vacation and stretch through the Rockets home opener. Beautiful Country, beautiful gals, and beautiful horses works for me. This is a SEC venue that a lot of Rocket fans can make it to. Get my Mint Julep ready, Sir!!!
Btw, winning and taking the money has worked very well for the Rockets at Penn State, Michigan, and Arkansas.

Didn't know Kentucky had that kind of football money, SEC or not---maybe MBB helps out the entire AD---If the rockets get $1M, that would certainly relieve most of my concerns because then it is a money game.

This is great for me, pseudo home game, only an hour and a half from the 'Nati, very winnable game against a SEC opponent.

The only bummer is that it is a one and done. Would have loved a 2 for 1, to have gotten the deal that USM got, when UAB temporarily dropped football. My guess, UK didn't want to take the chance of being beaten multiple times.

Already working on plans for the tailgate!!! Go Rockets!!!

RE: CFB: Toledo @ Kentucky - 2019
as far as football money goes. They get the same share of bowl revenues, SEC network and National SEC TV deal revenue as all the other SEC teams. They maybe short on their own bowl revenue, but they draw fairly well at home. UK averaged 57,000 in 2014 and 61,000 in 2015. Arkansas average 66,000 in 2014 and 67,000 in 2015. Ole Miss, Missouri and Miss. state all averaged in the 60's also.

The Kentucky Athletic Department probably uses the same bank account for both the football and basketball teams........05-stirthepot

Kentucky BB makes tons of money.

By virtue?? of being in the SEC, Kentucky is loaded. All the people sitting in chairs around the basketball court are million dollar donors.

Still come to Toledo and play Cats!

I was hoping we could pick up a game with UK when UAB dropped out so I'm very happy with this. Maybe Terry can tell us about the must-see's in Lexington.

Well of course, there is that. The last time I was in Kentucky I stopped in Lexington. There was a game later that day and traffic was getting a little heavier. I didn't want to get stuck so I never got to campus. I wasn't impressed with what I saw but in the past, Terry has spoken highly of the city.

I like the opponent. Not the one and done. Seems like KY would be a good draw for the Glass Bowl.

1. The Kentucky Horse Park is great for families. Located south of Georgetown on I-75.
2. Keeneland Raceway to watch the ponies run......
3. Tour of Claybourne Horse Farm.
4. Downtown is nice.

You would think, but after the Missouri game, who knows? Maybe that is part of the problem.

Except for a maybe couple years around Y2K (and perhaps a few of Stutz's last years) IMHO Toledo has almost always put a better product on the field than the attendance in the stands would suggest.
