Could we drop to P4 now by finding everyone a home?
If Texas & OU have decided they will not stay in the Big 12 past 2024, I wish they would just find everyone homes and finish it. If they take 4 teams and no GOR, its probably the sign of the end. I think its still possible if enough networks want to pay for content and maybe the Big 12 can be stronger than the PAC 12 but if its over, I wonder if the the B1G, SEC, PAC 12, ACC & Networks would do one of the below scenarios and get to our final P4 structure.

PAC: UT, TCU, OSU, KSU
SEC: OU, KSU, ISU, Baylor
B1G: KS
ACC: WVU

OR:
PAC: UT, TT, TCU, Baylor
SEC: OU, OSU, ISU, KSU
B1G: KS
ACC: WVU

OR:
B1G: OU & KU
SEC: WVU & ISU
PAC: UT, TT, TCU, Baylor, OSU, KSU

OR:
SEC: UT, TCU, OU, KS, ISU & WVU
PAC: TT, Baylor, TCU & OSU

OR: PAC & Big 12 merger(except WVU & KU),
B1G: KU
SEC or ACC: WVU

It would be a lot simpler if the B1G would just take ISU with KU since they ISU is AAU but don't see them wanting to do that with already having Iowa & Nebraska.

The PAC picks up Texas and gives them another blue blood.

The SEC would pick up a blue blood and an AAU school.

Will each of the P4 leagues need to be the same number?

If it got brokered (and it probably won't or it would already have been done) it would have to break out something like this:

PAC: Texas, Texas Tech, T.C.U., Kansas State
Big 10: Kansas, Iowa State
SEC: Oklahoma Oklahoma State
ACC: West Virginia and Baylor with N.D. remaining a partial.

Note: This isn't ideal for anyone. The PAC gets all parts of Texas and Kansas State is the compromise. The SEC gets Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is the compromise. The Big 10 gets Kansas and Iowa State is the compromise.
The ACC reconnects their footprint with West Virginia and takes Baylor for part of the Texas market and a somewhat new football brand.

That's probably as good as it gets and it's not great.

Only 8 schools needed for ten team B12 to dissolve. So 8 must find much better homes...still hard to do.

Might be easier, and cheaper for networks, if Pac took four and SEC took four.

I could see SEC taking OU, OSU, WVU, Kansas while PAC bags the 4 Texas schools.

I only listed 8. But yeah, 8 gets it done. And like I said, if that was going to be the track to a P4 it would already have been accomplished. The biggest reason it hasn't been done is because outside of Texas adding a large market, which they deliver by themselves, and Oklahoma adding a major content brand, nobody else adds a lot. Kansas can boost basketball which is 15% of the total sports revenue for a school. West Virginia adds a state of less than 2 million, a difficult travel destination and a slither of Pittsburgh.

I would argue that Iowa State brings more to the table than any of the rest. It's a state of over 3 million, they are AAU, and they support their sports teams.

With Oklahoma a conference doesn't need T.C.U.. Baylor brings a scandal now. Texas Tech adds the vacant part of Texas population wise. Oklahoma State has the 4th most profitable Athletic Department in the Big 12. Kansas State has a great guy as head coach.

So for these reasons the only addition they are considering that might make the networks look up from their business is B.Y.U.. Nobody is pining for Memphis, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Central or South Florida, or Colorado State.

So the networks decided a few years back to find a way to extract UT, OU, and maybe KU and call it a day. The rest they are overpaying for already.

If they are serious about expansion it is because they are building a rival conference for the AAC and the brands they are discussing will permit decent material for Thursdays and other awkward time slots they need to fill, and the networks still plan on moving Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas to other P4 conferences.

Anyway that's how I see it for now.
