RE: What would losing Cincinnati and Memphis BBall mean for UConn?

The Huskies would be okay with Temple and SMU if they manage to maintain what Larry started, and maybe with Tulsa (who is often good) and South Florida (who they've been playing since 2005), but I can't see them liking the rest of their conference schedule.
Is there anyone we could bring into the conference (all-sports) to help BBall? I don't really see anyone in the G5 that fits the bill.
I see Uconn beefing up the non-conf slate for NCAA tournament purposes in that scenario. I don't think they go independent in football and move to the BE. Too risky to go independent in football.
Basketball is a different animal bc it's a level playing field. If you're good you can make the tournament. No matter what league you're in. Uconn would still be fine.
I would also like to see the AAC bring in Wichita and VCU no matter what happens.
I agree with this. I think Wichita State and/or VCU fit in very well within the AAC footprint.

Could it be the Houston booster that contributed VERY large to the Texas governor's campaign demanding a little payback? Could it also be Houston is now willing to let Texas build a UT-Houston campus if they'll let Houston in? Anyway you can get in seems to be the trend here. Heck, we at Memphis are doing a lot of FedEx bribing. What I would like to see is the Big 12 go to 14 with the additions of Memphis, Cincy, Houston, and BYU
Does it matter?

Houston is in. Anybody who thinks otherwise doesn't understand the Big12 or Texas politics.
As far as Uconn, if the AAC loses three teams, I honestly think they should look at football independence. The Big East would take them in a heartbeat and I wouldn't be shocked if they picked up either VCU/George Mason/St Louis or Umass to pair with them.
And honestly, it would be a brilliant move by them. Limits their travel, doubles their income and in a 8 years they will be up for a new contract which I don't doubt ESPN will go after.

In this far fetched scenario UConn would be forced to go Indy in football and join either the Big East or A10 for Olympic sports.

The AAC is an 'All Sports' conference. Why would some on here even consider accepting basketball only for any new additions by mentioning VCU and/or Wichita State?
VCU doesn't even field a football team. ODU is all sports (Basketball, Football, Baseball, Field Hockey, Wrestling, Soccer, etc.), holds there own against VCU in basketball (we usually each win at home versus one another), and is typically superior than them in several of the other sports (Soccer and Field Hockey in particular).
