chip is an idiot

he just listed one of the main reasons why why Big 12 should want nothing to do with UH and he also is just making things up about conference revenue comparisons 12 years from now since no conference has a clue what their revenues will be even 10 years from now when all of them will have major media deals that have expired and will have had to be renegotiated

I'm not a buyer of the idea that Houston has enough political muscle to force UT to accept them into the Big XII.

Really? How about this from the Governor. (FYI: He is an alum of UT)

Big 12 expansion is a non-starter unless it includes University of Houston. @UHouston

It may be easier to expand with 4 rather than 2. But I think they should start with 2 and then wait for a little bit before grabbing 2 more.

AAC could be down 4 schools. Which will basically mean that the BE leftovers would now be incorporated into the P5 structure. (Cincy, UCONN, USF??, +1 other.).
AAC may just save CUSA from over-expansion as they'll need to grab at least 2 schools to get to 10 fb schools and 9 all sports

That's not the question, the question is if he has the power to make things messy

Good news for Houston IMO

It should be...

Houston
BYU
Cincinnati
Colorado State

UConn and South Florida are good candidates, but are pretty far out of the geographic footprint

Yeah ... there's one person who can equally apply pressure on 2 votes in this deal, and significantly influence 2 others ... Texas and Texas Tech being public schools rely on state funding to some degree; and TCU and Baylor would pick up the phone if the governor called. Hell, right now, Baylor would do anything they could to keep in good graces with people - that vote is easily influenced.

Don't want to overplay it, but we learned our lesson when got left out of realignment to the B12 the Governor and leutenant Govenor are from Houston and Houston has the largest amount Of State Reps in the state, do we have the muscle? We'll see. Governor has said Houston not In the B12 is a non starter.

Our endorsements are beginning to rack up. Abbott, Tilman Fertitta, Red McCombs, the most Big 12 coaches of any other candidate.

Does that mean we'll get in, no, but I'm beginning to feel a little better about it in that at least it appears that those in political power won't actively be against us this time around.

I think the two Florida schools have better long-term potential than all of the schools you've listed, except for Houston. So I think the invitees should be:

Houston
Tulane
Central Florida
South Florida

These schools are located in areas with an abundance of football talent and should benefit from P5 status.

yes he has the power to make things "messy" as in "we are not interested in your Texas politics and your Texas higher ed politics in the Big 12 so we will look at other candidates"

It worked for Baylor when Baylor Alum Ann Richards was the Texas Governor to join a newly formed Big 12. She use some political muscle to get Baylor in the Big 12. Otherwise, UH might be in now instead of Baylor.

I like the Florida schools as well....and if they decided to put all of their eggs into eastern expansion, they'd be great candidates

I just don't see a full-blown eastern expansion happening though....

IF it did though, you'd probably see...

UConn
Cincinnati
UCF
maybe South Florida, Temple or East Carolina

it was not actually Ann Richards that got involved it was others

and that was not exactly the same case as has been pointed out
