Orangebloods source: UT to B1G within 3 years
Interview from this morning......

Orangeblood source on a Nebraska radio station....Texas would of the B12 within 3 years to the B1G.

https://soundcloud.com/liquid-shane-...m-orangebloods

And now you know why Texas allowed expansion to happen.

Whether its real or not, UT fans don't take Ketchum seriously anymore.

Ketchum kind of ranks with the Dude of WV in credibility, but less entertaining.

I think that Texas and Oklahoma will ultimately sign an extended GOR as a result of this planned Big 12 expansion, thus killing all of the big dreams of Delany Worshipers.

Something tells me that if the B1G ever adds Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, the eastern members are going to want someone closer to them for #18.

the Big 12 is not getting a conference network

the Big 12 is not going to get new tier 1 and 2 media contracts

there is no chance that Texas or even OU would sign a new GOR when they have no idea what the media contracts for the conference would look like in the future

RE: Orangebloods source: UT to B1G within 3 years
From a Texas board:

The only assurance Texas, or any school for that matter, could truly give to any newcomer is the "grant of rights" to the league that is currently in place. That grant for Texas and all of teams of the Big 12 extends to 2025. Yet I don't see an extension of the grant of rights occurring based on my discussion with a high-ranking Texas official this morning. "I do not like any of the choices," the official said. "(I) want to watch to see if there is a move to extend the grant of TV rights. I will fight that tooth and nail." So there you have it. There will be multiple discussions and iterations of a possible newly minted Big 12 with new teams, but Texas is unlikely willing to bestow its TV rights beyond 2025. That means the Big 12 will be looking primarily at adding commuter schools, which, in turn, only means Texas is likely headed to either the Big 10, SEC or Pac-12 come 2025.

Counter point: Texas signed a Grant of Rights that expires in 9 years.

Didn't Maryland break a similar GoR just a few years ago?

No, the ACC GOR took effect after they left.

Nope. If a Grant of Rights is ever broken in court then all hell breaks loose again.

How many troll threads is NebFan going to be allowed to start on his obsession??? At least you could just bump one of the other 20 threads you've started on this.

Bobby Burton said the Chancellor will take UT to the B1G. UT will not sign a new GOR. It would be dumb for OU not to go with.

RE: Orangebloods source: UT to B1G within 3 years
I actually see the Big 12 as being locked in perpetuity:

- Texas will never move to another P conf so long as it can have the current status quo in the Big 12
- The other Big 12 teams, OU included, won't/can't leave the Big 12 so long as Texas stays.

A move by Texas to any other P conf will guarantee it a pay cut, as the LHN will not be allowed to exist and give money solely to Texas, while the rest of the conference is in a conf network. There ain't no such thing.

The only conf that OU could reasonably move to without Texas is the SEC, which supposedly their admin doesn't want. Big Ten and PAC are off the table without Texas. ACC wouldn't be interested, and OU would probably be taking a slight downward move in money to join the ACC.

All that has to keep happening is for the LHN to keep paying Texas an obscene amount of money. That's it. So long as that keeps chugging, so too will the Big 12.

Even if the Big 12 did manage to expand to 12 or even 14, I still bet Texas would be taking a considerable paycut to go to any other P conf or become independent. So it's really all on the LHN.
