RE: Big 12 Expansion
Texas and OU supporters probably believe they are going to lure an SEC or PAC 12 member to their conference as well. Reality is they are going to have to take a school they consider "lower" than themselves.

The bigger question is...if there were a merger, how would you lay out the new conferences? And...discuss!

Here we go again.

New East Conference:
FAU
Coastal or Charlotte
GS
Ga State
App
MTSU
WKU
ODU
Marshall
Troy
USA
USM

All the other teams can make a western conference while FIU and UAB just drop football and stick to research
How is it even a toss up between Charlotte and Coastal? We are a far better athletic program and have never lost to them in football. 05-mafia

Sometimes conference presidents don't make the wisest decisions, so Charlotte might be included before Coastal.

Nothing personal. It just depends on what direction the conference wanted to go. They could grab a small market national champion in baseball or a large market natural rival for App. Just depends. Personally I would prefer Coastal but that's just so we don't have any blank states on the conference map lol. Honestly I could see USM not wanting to be the furthest west team and demanding the inclusion of Arkansas State in which case both of y'all would be SOL.

BYU and Cincinatti are locks. After that it's Memphis and Colorado St, followed by the two Florida schools.

Reality is every current P5 member is USNWR Tier One. Start whittling your list down from there.

Charlotte doesn't embrace them, also Conway is located in the second largest metro in SC, with half a million people. Coastal has media coverage, that UNCC does not.

B12 adds 2 teams from AAC (or 1 AAC/BYU or 1 MWC/BYU)
AAC adds 2 teams from CUSA (or stays at 10)
CUSA stays at 12.
SBC stays at 10.

Done.

Agreed. I'm thinking Cincy and Memphis. AAC stays at 10, CUSA at 14, SBC at 10.

Only thing is if one school leaves the AAC instead of two, in which case the AAC will want to take one team. Heck maybe they'll take UMass and that'll be that, but maybe they'll take a CUSA school. That league won't want to stay at 13, so unless they add NMSU (highly unlikely) or JMU (also doubtful since they won't do FCOA), they'll go for a SBC school.

If that is the scenario the AAC likely looks to Army or UMASS as number 12. If not they take one CUSA team putting CUSA at 13. CUSA will not make the mistake of overfilling the conference again. They will stay at 13 and get better payouts for it. AD's/Presidents care more about making good financial decisions than fixing imbalanced divisions.

If CUSA does take 1 I believe NMSU would be a likely candidate. Or if they take an SBC team the SBC adds NMSU.

Idk where you got that from but it is completely wrong.

Largest metros in SC
1) Greenville 800k+
2) Columbia 800k+
3) Charleston 700k+
4) Myrtle Beach 450k+

Sounds like the gripe between Ga Southern and Ga State, but Ga State was still chosen first.

I don't know the numbers of the MSA's, but Charleston is now the largest city in SC. The area is also booming with new industry and homes. Projected growth in 5 years is 200K 04-jawdrop We are not ready for this at all. The Charleston Market is all the way up to Monks Corner now (thats over 30 miles away from downtown Charleston for reference).

SEC and PAC12 schools are all locked in for x amount of years due to TV and conference contracts... from what was said on the radio this morning there is no way to move out of either these conferences

NMSU's AD sitting back today enjoying life.

I don't know how all this shakes out, but I'd bet NMSU never leaves SBC football.

Imagine that WVU will push for UCF. They like recruiting Florida and having a FL school in the conference will make that easier.
