Republican Convention
Anyone watching?

Tonight's theme is make America safe again. I personally think America has more to fear right now from racial violence than international terrorism, and while speakers have talked about both subjects tonight, it's mostly been Benghazi and Radical Islamic terrorism.

Trump gets credit for mostly staying on theme tonight. He did promise a different, star-studded convention, and that didn't happen tonight (Scott Baio is not a big star, sorry). Melania Trump hasn't spoken yet - she could be interesting or a disaster.

But I did hear Trump called into Fox News tonight during the first night of the convention. That's crazy - why would he sabotage his own convention and speakers?

Best speaker of the night so far IMO has been Rudy Guiliani.

So he comes out to Queen. That seems interesting given it is the GOP convention.

Because he's not really interested in winning? He called in at the worst possible moment too given the speech that was taking place.

Bob Dole, now there is real statesman. They don't make Republicans like that anymore.

Bob Dole turns 93 later this week. He seems to be doing well but I don't believe I've ever seen anyone wear pants any higher than Senator Dole is wearing them tonight.

She knows how to work the cameras. Is doing a better job at it than Gulliani. Wasn't quite sure who he was talking to.

RE: Republican Convention
Dang I was almost ready to vote for him there for a while. I think that was the high point of the convention. I don't think they get any better than that, especially since Scott Biao and the Duck guy have already been on state.

He can't even kiss her on the lips? Just a peck on the cheek? I mean, I don't expect Bill and Hillary to lock lips either, but that would be understandable (for both of them).

RE: Republican Convention
Crazy how ONLY the FNC and FBN are broadcasting LT GEN MikeFlynn's address.
I expect both those channels will carry ALL the DNC speeches in totality.

And there you have it.

RE: Republican Convention
I'm guessing the almost entirely empty seating didn't look great to everyone on television.

This has been poorly organized all day and will surely continue tomorrow.

Making sure Joni Ernst didn't get a primetime speaking slot with a mostly empty stadium was a BRILLIANT decision.

Female senator and Iraq vet Joni Ernst has been bumped out of network coverage by a chanting rant from obscure military man Michael Flynn.

Like I said, just brilliant. A rising star in the Republican Party and she's speaking to almost nobody.

Most folks have left either to party hard or go to sleep. Remember, nothing good happens after 11pm.
