I would have a top 2 and move Chase Litton with Alex McGough then a another tier. At this point Litton has not shown any more than Mcgough. That might change but till it does neither belong with 1. Nick Mullens & 2. Brent Stockstill
.
I have to agree with Young Guns here. Stockstill and Mullens are on a different level than the rest of the league coming into the 2016 season. There some others who have a chance to really have solid years, McGough, Litton, etc. but these two have much better stats coming into the season. 01-ncaabbs

You realize he was true freshman, right?

Any fans from longer standing CUSA programs care to weigh in on some of the best years for a top 2-3 QBs group in the league?

I guess two years ago with Heineke and Cato as seniors and Doughty in his ninth(tenth?) season would certainly be on the list.

Yeah, we had 40 years of Case Keenum and nothing else really mattered, and the other dude from Houston, Kevin Kolb. There were a lot of solid players in all positions at all schools, but Houston QBs definitely dominated most of our time in CUSA prior to the latest edition. Bortles(UCF), Davis(USM), and Webb(UAB) are others of note. Jordan Palmer was a name of note at UTEP as Carson's little brother and did well there, but I felt he got rattled a little too easy and never got to elite status.

If you look at QB records in CUSA media guide on here somewhere it's all Keenum with a sprinkling of Doughty and Cato and Kolb.

I remember all the QBs you mentioned well, just wasn't sure about when they may have overlapped and when there may have been another group of three like 2013 or what 2016 looks like it could be.

I think Keenum, Davis, and Bortles all shared 2011, though Bortles was a freshman and either didn't play a lot or didn't impress much, based on stats. Of course, USM wrecked Houston for the CUSA CCG that year and killed their BCS bowl hopes. Also the year a barely bowl eligible Marshall and subpar UAB wrecked USM which kept them from climbing high enough to get a bid even after beating Houston. CUSA has always been cutthroat.

Probably Ragone and Garrard for Louisville and ECU would have been the best earlier pair to play at same time, but that was before we were here.

The MAC was too when we were in it. We dominated it but there was always that one game..............like akron 2002 (I think that was the year), or 2001 when Toledo beat us in the CC game on a last second Leftwich misfire. Of course that sent us for the first time to the GMAC bowl in the ever EPIC ECU bout instead of the craptastic Motor City bowl....again. The two teams to get screwed the most during that era was Tulane 1998, and Marshall 1999. Both undefeated, both no shot at a big game even though there were decent wins in the year.

Of course I do and the year of the player has little bearing on ranking CUSA's QBs. No one can predict how they will play this year...especially a player going into his 2nd season. So everything is based off last season...his Fr season.

Based on last year...

1. Nick Mullens & 2. Brent Stockstill

Chase Litton & Alex McGough

Pick anyone and put them here

Fairly certain that they are brothers.

Jeff Drislel - LA Tech - Transferred from FL his senior season
Jason Driskel - FAU

And yes they are brothers

Going to throw up in my mouth saying this, but baby Stock-still is the best QB in the league. He looks great and I look forward to seeing how good he can get. It helps that he has some very talented wideouts.

Mullens is good, but I think he will regress in production with losing the head coach.

Litton looks good physically, but I wasn't overly impressed. I think he is pretty good given that he is replacing a Marshall legend at QB. Tough shoes to fill, and he kept them winning.

I actually thought Driskell looked good in the games he came into for FAU. I always tuned into the games televised here and he looks to have some talent.

No one else stuck out to me, or i'm not informed enough to have an opinion.

For White at WKU, here what I really think:
He's not as bad as his stats at USF. That team was trash, and everyone they threw in sucked. That was before Willie upped the recruiting there.
He's not as good as what we've had. But that's ok.
Doughty was good, but he was barely a seventh round pick. I think it's Brohm, I really do. With that being said, I think he will put up big numbers with 5 returning Oline starters and weapons all over the map on offense.

Decision making is what turns a good QB into a really really really good QB....probably more valuable than god given talent. Doughty made great decisions and that took him from a QB that can make throws...just another good college player into a possible NFL qb.

Doughty made it with his passes. With his feet. With his eyes....all across the board. Never under estimate the value of feeling the game and making split decisions. That can turn a decent throwing QB into a 7th round NFL pick. Most of the time a player usually has that ability or they don't. A very few develop it with teaching

Lists sounds fine. And that QB class doesn't even come close to Cato/Heinicke/Doughty, imo.

But, Washington provides some upside possibility. Remember, he just got moved from WR to QB in the middle of the season with almost no practice time and performed really well. I can't see that being easy for a QB.

2014 Cato(senior) 59% completion, 3,900 yards passing, 40 TDs, 13 ints, 482 rushing yards, 8 rushing TDs

2014 Heineke(senior) 63% completion, 3,476 yards passing, 30 TDs, 6 INTs, 139 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs

2014 Doughty(junior) 68% completion, 4,830 yards passing, 49 TDs, 10 INTs, 2 rushing TDs

2015 Mullins(junior) 64% completion, 4,476 yards passing, 38 TDs, 12 INTs, 3 rushing TDs

2015 Litton(Freshman) 60% completion, 2,608 yards passing, 23 TDs 8 INTs

2015 Stockstill(Freshman) 67% completion, 3,993 yards passing, 30 TDs, 9 INTs, 2 rushing TDs

2014(Cato/Heinicke/Doughty) 63%, 12,476 yards passing, 119 TDs, 29 INTs, 621 rushing yards, 12 rushing TDs

2015(Mullens/Litton/Stockstill) 64% completion, 11,077 yards passing, 91 TDs, 29 INTs, 5 rushing TDs

So as a junior and two freshmen, last years class was marginally more effecient, came within 11% of the total yards, within 24% of total TDs, and the same number of INTs as the previous class acheived as two seniors and a junior.

Obviously no one in this class is the rush threat that Cato was, but in 2016 as a senior and two sophomores I expect this class to close the gap even further on the 2014 class's very impressive numbers.

Cato hardly played the 2nd half of any of the games that year.

Also- ypa-

Stockstill 8.17
Mullins- 8.59
Litton- 6.8

Heinicke-7.61
Doughty- 8.75
Cato - 8.65

Certainly some growth potential from the freshman.
