Apparently, James Madison is playing in the Island of the Bahamas showcase from Nov. 17-19. JMU is the 8th team in this tourney.

Per Vermont's website: The eight-team tournament field includes Bradley, Coastal Carolina, Iona, James Madison, Northern Kentucky, Texas-San Antonio, and Weber State. Details for the showcase will be released at a later date.

This will get the Dukes up to 31 regular season games. This erases any thoughts of us hosting a bigger name team as has been rumored.

For the second time this off season JMU replaced Duquesne (the other when Darius Banks reopened his recruitment). Clearly the JMU Dukes> Duquesne Dukes.

This is a great development. Jmu MBB is starting to really resemble a quality/emerging mid major program. Increased social media presence, pre season trips, ooc tournaments, 3 star recruits. With the new arena on the horizon things are moving in the right direction now we just need a good year in terms of wins and losses and post season.

An added pump of adrenaline would be a verbal commit or two prior to the early signing period in November too. Fingers crossed.

We've got 4 ships to offer if my count is accurate.

Great addition to the schedule. Excellent competition. Would love to see our young dukes face off with Iona,who I often see at Marist. Vermont, N Kentucky and Coastal all solid as well.

Players will get another trip and new recruits will see our program is traveling and sparing no expense.

Yup. Good to hear. A couple of W's would be nice. Hope we get a shot at Vermont. That would be a solid RPI boost.

A slight change from the originally released MBB schedule... the Nov. 22 (day before Thanksgiving) home game vs Appy State is now at 4pm instead of originally listed 7pm. Makes sense. Thanks, JMU Athletics. That helps.


edit note: another slight change is they have now listed the home game vs Charlotte on Dec. 2nd, Sat., at TBD instead of originally scheduled 7pm tip. This also makes good sense considering it is very likely the Dukes will be hosting a 2nd round football game that date. Pending what time that kickoff and end of the game is very well could/should determine the tip time for the MBB game...I'd love to attend the FB game and then walk over to the Convo and take in a Dukes victory over Mark Price's 49ers.

The bracket and game times are at the page now - though, the teams haven't been entered. Perhaps we will know soon who the Dukes might play on Day 2 on our side of the bracket after our opener against Northern Kentucky and of course find out when that opening game will take place.

Will be interesting to see if they do any live streaming of the games down there. In the past I have watched some live streams of games from Caribbean early season tournaments, but IIRC they were PPV.

Just noticed at the official schedule page that we have added an exhibition game on Dec. 27 at home versus West Virginia Wesleyan (division 2).

I think this is a great move. Previous to this, we had a 10-day break between our guys playing at Florida (Dec. 20) and our CAA opener at home vs Northeastern (Dec. 30). I like the idea of getting a game in after Christmas break but before kicking off the portion of the schedule that means the most.

...UR released their tip times and TV designations a bit ago. Our game at Tickville on Dec. 9th is set for a 6pm start and will be televised live via NBC Sports Washington Plus (NBCSW+).

*NBC Sports Washington is the old Comcast Sports Net Mid Atlantic.

...for those who are less than impressed with JMU's communications and updating the official athletics website with information (including me), it could be worse. Florida International's official site still doesn't have their MBB schedule posted - and we're less than a month away from most programs playing their first exhibition games of the season.

FWIW, I emailed the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase PR lead asking if there would be any live internet streaming options of games. His response was... "yes, info coming soon on it."
