He'd get his ass beat if he said those things to somebody's face in Huntington. Then he'd have a real reason not to like it.

RE: CUSA cities ranked....
Such a subjective thing to rank. It's all determined by personal taste. Do you like a rural or city setting? Mountains or coastal? Climate preference? Etc...

Further, you have to spend more than a few days in a city to really get a sense of it and what it offers. And it shows that the writer clearly hasn't been to many of the cities. Norfolk is more than just the Navy and ocean. I know the same can be said of the blogger's word vomit on all of our fair cities and towns.

I love Ruston but admit it is a small town in BFE. When your claim to fame is being one of the few towns outside of Texas that has a whataburger, you know your not going to be high on the list of cities with actual stuff to do.

This. The writer assumes city=good, rural=bad. That by itself disqualifies this ranking.

Both Ruston and Hattiesburg offer nearby access to amazing lakes, rivers, creeks and bayous. Waterskiing or fishing on at least 4 lakes within 30 minutes of Ruston, or take a day trip in a canoe or tube on the Okatoma near Hattiesburg.

If I want to GO GO GO 24/7, I visit Houston or Miami. You visit Ruston and Hattiesburg to chill out.

And I LOVE Whataburger, so...

Some of those places, in my opinion, are nice places to visit, but I would not want to live there.

Heck, I used to live in Monroe and I had a great time while there.

Every place has it's pluses and minuses.

Weather ? Education ? Crime ? Roads / Access to interstates ? Cost of Living ?

Lots of factors

I'd have to live in a refrigerator box under a bridge in California. My wife watches those "flip or flop" shows on HDTV and houses that looked condemned are being sold for half a million in Cali. Here in TN, for a half million you are living large.

Norfolk is really Norfolk/Va Beach. Actually it's 7 cities. You'd never know when you're on VB/Norfolk/Chesapeake/Hampton/Suffolk/Hampton/Newport News if it weren't for the Welcome to.....signs! You have to include VB especially when you talk about Norfolk amenities for visitors.

We see that every year in Houston on S. Main at least 5-6 times in the fall. (usually when La Tech comes to play us, our couch gets burned real bad.)

14. Ruston
Huntington
Hattiesburg
Murfreesboro
Bowling Green
Miami
Denton
Norfolk
El Paso

A couple of disclaimers:

1) I've been to every C-USA city/town except for Charlotte (which I've heard great things about).
2) Houston gets a lot of crap on this board, but Rice's neighborhood is among the nicest in the South. If we were in Alief, you might have a point.
3) For the inverse reason, I downgrade FIU/Miami. FIU isn't on South Beach, folks.
True, the area around Rice is very nice. However, my comments earlier were for Houston as a whole. I grew up in Galveston and we went to Houston for the zoo and Astros games only! Didn't go north of Baybrook Mall more than 4 times per year!

Maybe some FAU fans can chime but any reason this guy has ripped on CUSA in the past given his school is in the conference?

I probably wouldn't disagree on the fact that Cha is a awesome city. You'd be surprised with Norfolk/VA Beach craft beer scene. Starr Hill, Green Flash moving to town and a solid selection. I think we both wish we were Asheville in that regard.

Don't forget Smartmouth and O'Conner.

RE: CUSA cities ranked....
Isn't it amazing when folks rank SEC cities, they list such "rank" towns as Starkpatch,
Oxfart and Auburn as remarkable little hidden gems (or beautiful cities on the plains)....while in C-USA, it's obviously bigger is better ('cept of course iffen we're talking about TV contracts, corches salaries and attendance matters) 04-cheers

In my loooooooong life I've been lucky to travel a bunch, and I've enjoyed big cities such as San Diego, San Antonio and San Francisco (Love them "San's")....but I've also enjoyed small towns and cities such as Savannah, GA, Cimarron NM, and Moab, UT.

So, it IS in the eye of the beer-holder and about as subjective as subjective gets..04-rock

I'm not surprised that Underdog Dynasty ranked Ruston worst. That site is always looking for a way to hate on Tech and by association CUSA.

RE: CUSA cities ranked....
I did message the guy who wrote it on Twitter.

I told him I had no complaint about the ranking of the cities. I noted he was an FAU alum and I invited him to the game this season. Told him I would buy his ticket and he could tailgate with my family if he decided to come. All I wanted to do was give him the opportunity to see we were not like the pricks up in Morgantown.

He replied...........

"I appreciate the sincere offer. I know Huntington is not like Morgantown. I made a dumb joke to ruffle feathers and got more than I bargained for. The story wasn't supposed to run however communication broke down between the site manager and myself. I apologize if the statement offended you. It was an honest mistake and a silly joke at best. As for the potential to tailgate If I'm able to make it to the game this year I'll be sure to remember this and follow up on the offer lol

Take care"

To hell with a canoe that flips. I prefer the short drive and short trip to the marsh in my sons yard ornament
