He's mostly talking about his background, and how he was recruited to NIU, and how he approaches the job. He has multiple degrees and different backgrounds so he understands a lot different things inside higher ed besides just athletics. We are fortunate to have him.

- STF is very excited about the game at the Cell, and he did a good job of hyping it up, and Laurence did as well.
- STF was at Wisconsin when Rutgers, Nebraska, and Maryland joined the Big Ten or were in the process, so he understands exactly what it takes to join other conferences.
- He talked about what we've heard before that NIU needs to show dominate in every athletic program, not just football, to truly garner the interest of other conferences
- He drilled home once again that it comes down to Alumni and Donor support. Going to games, getting season tickets, and donations. That's how TCU did it, that's how Louisville did. There is no secret to it, it takes the collective group of our alumni base and the school to get to that level. And once we are there it's full steam ahead, but we have to put in the work.

- HE GET'S ASKED ALL THE TIME ABOUT THE FACILITY MASTER PLAN, AND HE'S READY TO GO. THEY ARE LEANING TOWARDS STARTING WITH THE FOOTBALL STADIUM, BUT THEY ARE WAITING ON THE BUDGET. BUT HE SAID GET READY FOR A BANNER YEAR AT NIU. NOW IT'S TIME FOR US TO GET AFTER IT.

I love his passion but until we get an alumni base that shares it were gonna be in the MAC

Niu will be in the mac for the next 15 years or at least some none power conf. we get zero fan support it will never !!! happen

I know it has been said before but no matter how well the football, basketball, softball or any other team plays, to move to another conference is going to take money, money, money.

Spoilers guys, THIS is a part of what that big surprise is that I've had to keep under wraps for so long. It was never about trouble raising the funds, it was about the state budget leaving us hogtied. We could hear something very soon folks...

I assume that as soon as SF gets the green light, he will make an announcement. Could a major announcement come at the first home game?

To start the big capital project when the temporary budget expires may not be the wisest thing to do. But, then again, will we ever have a permanent budget?

We won't have a chance for a budget till after elections. Also, the AFSCME contract needs to be negotiated. This will be the Big fight coming up. Rauner will make his stand.

I think what he was saying and what Cool alluded to was that it's all set to go. Whatever they needed to get done for the football stadium has been done. To be fair, they have raised more money on a yearly basis for athletics in SF's years than they have in history...correct? And we don't know what has been going on behind the scenes, who knows what money has exchanged hands and what sponsors are on board. Yes...more money will ALWAYS be needed from alumni, but as far as the first project (which sounds like it is going to be the football field, though I'm not sure what part, most likely the East side) it's all set to go. He just needs a green light from the University.

Maybe the positive of the lack of a state budget holding up the facility master plan is STF and co. have had more time to get additional big money donors onboard.

as cynical as i am, i also said the same about NIU heading to a BCS bowl. I believe it can happen, but it takes the right allocation of resources to drive the momentum in a positive direction.
