BLM shuts down Memphis 'M-bridge' with peaceful protest...
a group of 1000 BLM protesters shut down Memphis' Hernando-Desoto bridge last night. There were no riots, no looting, and no arrests. The Memphis Police Director (Mike Rallings) came and talked with them, walked them arm-in-arm off the bridge, and traffic was then allowed to pass.

praying for peace with the protesters

outstanding job, MPD and Director Rallings...proud of y'all.

Well, guess what, this also happened when they shut down I-94 in Minnesota.

Quote:At least five officers were injured after being hit by rocks, glass bottles or fireworks thrown by protesters, St. Paul police reported, and demonstrators on a pedestrian overpass threw objects including bricks and rebar at officers and dumped liquid on them.

There is no "right" way to shut down traffic. It is by definition disruptive and probably against the law in most places, Memphis included. Hopefully the police chief told them the next time they pulled that stunt he was going to arrest them

yeah, it's not like MLK would ever block a bridge to protest...

nope...he marched and prayed with them...far more effective.

Not so fast,
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local mother has been charged with first- degree murder after police say she stabbed her four children to death in their home.

Also, shutting down roads highways, even for a short time is terrible.
People need to get to work, get to the hospital, get home etc.

I'm with 200 on this one Memphis... I will say, at least it was a peaceful protest, but you're going out of your way to disrupt a major interstate? That's a major no-no, no matter how peaceful.

Yeah, they could protest without interrupting folks trying make a living, etc. I guess it makes for good aerial photos though.

Mothers murdering their children is not limited to any one race or city. The mother in Houston that murdered her two daughters recently was as cold as it gets.

I never said he wouldn't. Peaceful or not, it's still not the right way to protest

I'm wondering what this story of a mentally ill mother killing her kids has to do with BLM? I wish our mental health system was able to help her...

I mean, a couple months back we had a mentally ill dude get a hold of a gun...he was walking around downtown talking to himself and decided to shoot two people eating on patio..stole a car...and ran it into a cop, killing the officer...

just more proof we need to do more to help the sick, and keep guns away from the mentally ill.

If they got a permit great, if not they should have not taken over a bridge that carries auto traffic. MLK was a man, a sinner, a person who made mistakes. He was not Christ.

no one has said that...

the civil rights protests were VERY effective (see civil rights act, and voting act) so I understand protesters today following that example of non-violent protest.

Early on during the protest, a car trying to escort a child to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was blocked by the protesters, but the protesters eventually allowed the car through.

Do the protesters hate sick children? This is why you dont block traffic.

Comparing BLM to any protest that involved Dr. King is like slapping him in the face.

Last night the BLM terrorists blocked I126 coming into Columbia for several hours. With it being a Sunday night it wouldn't have been very disrupting except for the fact that I126 is that due to the three rivers I126 is the only direct way into Columbia from the NW portion of Richland County, the northern part of Lexington County, Newberry County, etc. that doesn't add 20-30 minutes additional travel time. Again, it was Sunday night so traffic was minimal but access to Palmetto Health-Richland (Level 1 Trauma Center, heart hospital) Palmetto Health- Baptist, and Providence Hospital. The BLM terrorists put the lives of tens of thousands of people in danger last night with their stunt.

When BLM shuts down interstate highways to protest blacks murdering other blacks, I might listen to what they have to say.

MPD director brought that up to the protesters, saying "we have to stop killing each other" and asked for "30 days of no killing"

very impressed with Dir Rallings last night.
