They could do a two for one schedule with the teams they are considering to give an invitation to (if they are really considering the idea). That way there is no guessing if a team will move the needle.
They get to play the teams being considered home & away. If a team is a winner (or moves the needle) they get the invite.
there is really no way to make this work
the teams they are considering all play at least 8 conference games which leaves at most 4 OOC games per year for them to schedule Big 12 teams
which Big 12 teams are you going to want them to schedule KU or TCU or OU
so you beat KU two out of three games big deal that tells everyone nothing other than KU is not improving
as for OU and TCU they are more concerned with strength of schedule to try and make a playoff if they go 11-1 or 12-0 so they don't need to be wasting time and effort with "test drives" for possible conference members
along with that conference membership is generally a LONG TERM deal it is not about who looks good these couple of games or who had "their fans" show up for a couple of games they actually cared about (Vs all the other games they would be playing year in and year out)
what you are proposing is really no different than what most of those that want in the Big 12 are already claiming.....we had a really good season last year or the year before we deserve to be in
"our fans" will show up if they have teams coming to "our stajium".......that they actually care about
generally all that falls apart when the string of two or three good seasons falls apart and that is when the conference looks back and wishes they had made their decision based on LONG TERM PROVEN accomplishments not short term accomplishments and the infamous "just let us in and we will show you"
