RE: Feathers
I have to laugh every time I go to a Tribe game and some youngster asked me where I got my shirt with a feather logo.

I have shirts I bought the year after I graduated that I can still wear, so I just say if you are old as dirt like me, all your gear has feathers.

Not totally, as they will continue to sell gear with that logo in the stadium. But yeah, no more chief caricature logo on any uniforms after one more season.
Okay. You're correct.

This is a club trying to sit on the fence and that can't last. The logo is "inappropriate to wear on the field" but okay to sell in stores?

**** or get off the pot.

There's a good article about that here: http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2018/01/29/the-...moral-one/

Basically, because of the way this is being done it indicates that this is all business. As you said, if they actually cared about whether it's a racist mascot then they'd stop selling it altogether. Rumors (denied by MLB) are that Cleveland had to do this in order to get the All-Star Game in 2019 or 2020, whenever it's scheduled to be there.

Yeah, if they don't sell some of those caps and shirts, to keep the Trademark, some terrible organization would grab the trademark rights for themselves and do awful things with it.

Right...

I wonder if federal recognition will make it easier for W&M to give scholarships to the local tribes. It would make a lot of sense given our history, especially with the Chickahominy and Nansemond as cited in the article.

I believe FSU and Seminole Nation have an arrangement like that. Not sure if that arrangement is extended to other Floridian Tribes, too.

Right...

North Dakota is doing something similar with the Fighting Sioux logo.

It honestly does make sense to do from the school's/team's prespective
