If you want a better MOB, we're happy to tell you what we think could be done with adequate resources. Rice gets the band they pay for, and they aren't paying for a whole lot. A "desire for excellence" doesn't patch cracks in sousaphones, build a passable band hall, or pay for away game trips. That takes money.

If you'd rather have a sense of superiority, well, feel free to continue to sit up on your high horse, "crusading against mediocrity" from the comfort of your keyboard while those of us who actually give a crap will continue to put in the time, sweat, and money required to actually improve things.

As for the band hall, you think thats the reason membership is down? Having graduated a few years ago, I assure you that was far from the major reason.

Well sure, the major reason most students don't join The MOB is the same reason the student section is even smaller than The MOB. Rice students would rather do something else on Saturdays than risk heat stroke to watch Rice play FAU or whoever.

If you mean to insinuate that the major reason is that the student body think that The MOB is weird, then I would counterpoint that the student body has thought The MOB is weird for a long time, and only since 2012 has The MOB's membership plummeted.

The MOB is trying to better reflect what the student body wants, but we've been hamstrung by lack of resources.

No, no, NO. You've made that argument before. I refuted it back then, and you wanted more data so I provided it. Then you didn't respond, perhaps because the numbers didn't back up your own biased assertion. Like I said, nothing has changed since then -- neither in circumstance nor in the arguments from the likes of you.

And it's more than a desire for excellence on your part. You spew negativity toward anything that doesn't align with your world view. Maybe that's not hate, but it's not a positive trait, either, no matter how much you try to associate it with the word "excellence". Take it from a MOBster: we've been told more times than we can count that perception is more important than intent; you could stand to learn that, too.
