There are times when I think blocking roadways is an appropriate protest, yesterday was one such day. It's the overuse of the tactic which is a problem.

I-880 has been blocked by protesters in Oakland. No matter how much rage you have about some things, no matter what the injustice is, there are better ways to gaiin attention for a cause than this. Why don't they block the path to city hall for the mayor and critical leaders of the city or slam their city hall with calls to the point they can't conduct business? There could be an ambulance with a critically ill patient that can't get through. I'm sure there are some people who don't have AC in their cars at this time of year, which is awful and only pisses them off more.

It's stupid, really stupid if you ask me, even as an African-American. Call me an Uncle Tom if you want too if you're black and reading ths.

So you KNOW the ******* that did this was apart of BLM? There's been thousands of "BLM" gatherings across the country that have gone without violence. The violence in Ferguson had nothing to do with BLM rather than people who took advantage of a situation.

BLM has made a lot of mistakes in presenting their message. They are not the alpha and omega in regards to what is happening in this country and they are not the collective voice of the left, minoriites, or even the black community for that matter. Attempting to lump all people upset by recent events into the same movement as BLM is lazy, disingenuous, and downright partisan.

If there isn't a voice out there speaking against unjust treatment of African-Americans and all of it throughout history including today, that directly affects me.

That said, doing stuff like always blocking the freeway is indefensible. Once or every once in a while is making a statement but doing it as often as it has been done is irrational and counterproductive.
