In the past, WH has said the presidential seal isn't displayed at campaign events. Nothing looks more presidential.

White House Reverses Decision on Use of Presidential Seals at Campaign Events

Quote:"[Y]ou will find that many presidents running for re-election have -- when they stand in front of that particular podium, use the presidential seal. It's government -- that podium is government property. We don't hang campaign signs on it. We use the presidential seal," Carney said.

The campaign also made that point last Friday, with an official saying, "For example President Bush and President Clinton both used (the seal) in 2004 and 1996."

Most of the time, the president stands at a lectern or podium that has a campaign sign and slogan on it like "FORWARD" or "Betting on America." During his bus tour during a two-day trip through Ohio and Pennsylvania that included five official campaign stops, the first four events featured a campaign slogan until the largest and last event of the trip at Carnegie Mellon, where the official presidential seal was used.

Carney said it was "appropriate to have the presidential seal on the podium behind which he is standing, because he is actually the president of the United States."

But I suppose they should have removed it when she was speaking and put in back up when he was. That's clearly be the right thing to do to not make an issue out of it. 01-wingedeagle

Both of those incidences mentioned were incumbent. Bush and Clinton were both president of the USA at the time. Hillary is not.

Go back and read the part you quoted. Then think about it for a minute.

She will also buck tradition and campaign during the Republican convention.

We have political tradition for a reason. It keeps things slightly civilized. We've ditched a lot of tradition the last few years.

She may regret it when Trump makes news with running commentary during her convention also.

Correct. But the seal is because Obama will be speaking behind it. What I posted says that even when campaigning as he is here, even if not for him directly, that it will no longer be removed because he's still the President.
