Trading Marc Gasol
Here's an article from SBNation about trading Marc: http://www.grizzlybearblues.com/2017/5/2...peculation

Karl Anthony-Towns and Anthony Davis are mentioned. Along with trading him for ROBIN Lopez and signing Patty Mills....so, take this with a grain of salt.

I just thought it was interesting. The only deal mentioned here that I would be interested in would be for Myles Turner & that's IF we decided to blow it up...

RE: Trading Marc Gasol
The writing at GBB has really declined this last year. Mullinax has added quite a few new writers, and their articles desperately need a good editor.

In this article, this Maxwell guy references a possible trade with the T'Wolves, and then never gives us the trade. He implies it's for Rubio and Towns, which is obviously insane. And the Pacers are supposed to trade Myles Turner, their best young big, for Gasol? Not happening. And no consideration of salaries matching or cap space. Feels like a high school newspaper type of article.

At another point, he says centers like Gasol are in huge demand. Says who? There are a surplus of centers in the league, which is why teams like Dallas were able to acquire Noel so cheaply. And 76er's and Nets couldn't move Okafor and Lopez at the deadline, despite their best efforts.

Agreed - I still find them to be interesting reading material (along with the Pick N Pop stuff at the CA).

FWIW, I think someone like Myles Turner would be a fair trade for Marc IF the Pacers were trying to contend. With PG13 out the door, I think they are going to re-build. Turner will certainly be THE guy for them.

I still go to GBB, but not as much. Have to pick and choose who is writing the article. One writer said a couple of weeks ago that the Grizz should re-sign JMike for 4 years/$20M total. Again, makes you wonder if anyone at all edits the articles before they are posted.

Pacers have new management with Larry Bird stepping aside, so like you said, a re-build is much more likely for them than a trade for a guy like Marc. Question is how much they can get for PG13, since his agents are almost surely telling any acquiring team that he is unlikely to sign long-term with them.

The Pacers are an interesting team because they are definitely going to re-build and they have a number of players that I'd like to see on the Grizz roster (Monta Ellis, Thad Young, and CJ Miles). However, given our cap situation, if we can't find someone to take Chandler (please, Orlando) then we can't really add them.

Don't see the Lakers trading for PG13 because they could just add him in FA without sacrificing young assets. That being said, DeAngelo Russell could be expendable once they add Ball in the draft, so ya never know.

RE: Trading Marc Gasol
CJ would interest me at the right price. Wallace likes lefties. He'll decline his PO and be a free agent, so could be a mid-level exception target.

The Pacers will let you have Monta if you want him. He's just fallen off a cliff, IMO. PER down to 10 last year. Still lives in Eads, I think, and he has wanted to be a Grizz before. But I don't think the Grizz are interested.

Thad is another lefty, who I think also the Pacers would like to move. $14.8M contract next year will make that hard. Just don't see how he would get here. Both ZBo and JMike would have to sign elsewhere, I would think.

There is no way we would get adequate value for Marc. His age would be a factor. I hope Marc retires here. He deserves it.

Yep. We would have to take back a bad contract, and possible include an asset like a draft pick.

And there are so many centers who could be had in a trade. Really drives downs the trade value on all centers.

I'd do it for Boston's #1 pick and right to switch with Nets in 2018 draft.

Who says no to that?

The #1 overall pick? Boston says no. They would hang up before Wallace could complete the sentence. Much less the Nets pick, which is another great asset for Boston.

NBA teams don't give up assets like the #1 overall pick for a 32 year old center on a big contract, one year removed from a navicular bone break.

This!

I'm not sure Marc has great trade value. Could we get something nice in return...probably. But the #1 pick? No way.

RE: Trading Marc Gasol
I really can't stand marc gasol. I can't respect him or his game. He has some good things about his game, but overall, it's very overrated. You know what's worse than marc's rebounding? His interviews. It's just complete garbage.

I blame marc gasol for us losing a banner two years ago while he coasted into the playoffs. It's the same year he worked so hard before the all star game to become an all star starter. Then the next year, he gets his big contract and shows up out of shape. No surprise he got injured and missed the rest of last year.

Anyone can guard marc gasol defensively.

Almost every player in the nba can get a rebound over him.

He is more likely to give an average or below average performance when he is really needed in a playoff game. He does not raise his game in the playoffs.

Offensively, the grizz have to pass him the ball on nearly every possession, yet he rarely will shoot when it's his shot. I'm so sick of involving him in the offense and watching him waste the clock before putting someone in a tough position to shoot the ball. He does it all the time.

The only thing i will give credit to marc is standing at the top of the key and making a good % of 3 pointers. It masks the fact that he is one of the slowest players getting back on defense. Maybe next year he will figure out what to do when a point guard defends him. I doubt it though. He is so dumb yet he always says "play the game the right way".

Wow. Not sure about all that, tmoney.

But it does come through loud and clear that you don't like Marc.
