...and to borrow a radio cliche: "longtime 'listener', first time 'caller'"
I frequently read on here how USM (or Marshall) direly wants to leave our friends in C-USA for the AAC, MAC or ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE, that is NOT C-USA. I'm sure the fans of current teams in C-USA that have been handing us our azzes lately (such as WKU), probably wonder why many of us think we "deserve" better surroundings.
Now, I usually like to quote William Munny when someone says they "deserve" something ("deserves got nothing to do with it"), but for a lack of a better term, I'M USING IT RIGHT NOW!
Those same folks who have seen a struggling Golden Eagles program since they entered the league, may not know the last few years has never happened before....nor do they perhaps not know the sheer dominance we had over former C-USA programs who fled to greener pastures.
For example(s): USM 27 wins ECU 12 wins
USM 40 Memphis 22
USM 23 Tulane 7
USM 9 Houston 5
So, not only did we dominate over the years ('cept for the destructive years wrought by Granpappy 'EJ' Dumbarse), we won more titles and won more C-USA games than any of our peers, by a longshot.
So, it's nothing against fine programs like WKU or La Tech....we are just disappointed our heirarchy (you know, the ones that hired Johnson and Tyndall) failed to successfully market our 105 year football program to the above teams that once provided what ever rivals we had.
That is all.
