I imagine if you went back to the 20's and 30's, when a lot of games were decided by an extra point and were very low scoring, you could find some where the coach thought the wind was an important enough factor to choose to KO twice.

Nope..I don't think I'm THAT guy...whoever that guy is.

By arrogant, I simply meant the idea that a lot of USM fans have concerning C-USA, which is GET THE HELL OUT. I believe I noted we have sucked lately, that WKU has beaten us like lil' chil'ren, and there are some other programs in C-USA who should be very proud of their accomplishments also.

My post probably oversimplified the subject, but I didn't want to write War and Peace
my very first time.

I guess some folks just love to fight and get angry
What point are you trying to make?

It all depends on the coin flip, if the winning team defers to the second half and the losing team decides to kick-off well guess what the winning team is going to choose to receive in the second-half. Thus the losing team kicks-off both halfs.

It happen to Tech once, too. The players (captains for the game) that go out for the coin flip need to have that drilled in their head. But some strange reason some players go out for the coin-flip may have never been out before or just forgot how it works. Coaches fault really, they need to tell players exactly what to do.

Southern Miss would have taken Tulsa's spot if that had been normal Southern Miss. It was just bad luck and timing that they had their losing seasons during realignment. Same for ECU when the Big East expanded earlier with Cincinnati, Louisville, and USF. We would have joined them to replace VT but we had only won 3 games in two years at that point. Southern Miss and Old Dominion both have shots at the American if expansion happens again.

That just shows you shouldn't try to think, ye head annoyer, GC!

Just trying to see how many girls on here get their panties in a wad over a post that was just written to get
a discussion started (and I 'd say it worked)...

I reckon my POINT IS this: Just sit back and relax, have a beer or 2 perhaps, enjoy the wit and wisdom of my posts....and do not over anal-lyze everything because it makes some of you such un-entertaining widdle rascals.

As someone that's known for his even keel I understand what you're saying in your original post. I would likewise appreciate it if people would enjoy the wit and wisdom of my posts as well.

not sure about games back then and all can still be decided by 1 or 6 now.....ties no longer apply....

but we made the decision to do it w/o the wind factor....I wish I could remember the specifics.....I think it was coached during the fedhat era...

it was flat out a mistake....that was the point...

As a huge Southern Miss fan, I will have to agree with you. Although we have had a lot of success and a very rich tradition, the truth is that we have never really capitalized on that success..plain & simple! Sure, we have won numerous CUSA championships and went to numerous bowls..and dominated the the other versions of CUSA in football..but we've never seized the moment to shine when those opportunities presented themselves . That's always been the life of us Golden Eagle fans though.
