The Mississippi St game is the first of a 4 game contract with all 4 games being played in Jackson. Surprisingly (but not really I guess) the last time we played was 2001; but then again, football went around 25 years without playing them until the 2015 game. Surely there's a game or 2 in between the 2nd exhibition and the 11-30 season opener but this is what was posted by our beat writer today

I don't care for the game at Jackson St..Rest of schedule looks good.IMHO C-USA teams should not play AT schools who are in a bottom five RPI conference.

Better for RPI to play on the road, IF we win.

We were hoping that Savannah State could fill in the gap, but they were looking to upgrade their schedule.

I think the Jackson trip is to cut down on travel cost. Oats have gone up so much recently and the mule to oat consumption rate to get 5 wagons 90 miles will just blow your mind. Also there was a 2 for 1 involved. Think the Mississippi School For the Deaf is supposed to play us if someone will answer the dang phone!!!

Baseball schedules usually aren't released until November or so.. However, you can usually predict your non-conference series pretty well... Rice hosted both Texas and Stanford in 2015... It has been announced by UT that we will play the opening series @UT. Stanford hasn't been formally announced, but insiders think we play there as well. Only confirmed home series right now is SE LA, but we will definitely have another (You usually play 4 non-con series).

Anyway, back to basketball.

It honestly looks like a pretty good schedule to me! There are only 9 D-1 opponents on it (5 standalone game and 4 @Diamond Head), but I would expect a couple added in mid-late November.

The @Diamondhead tournament is only 3 games....22nd, 23rd and 25th as the Hawaii Bowl Game is on the 24th.
