Summer Baseball Thread
OK, let's get his thing started with a scouting report on Tristan Gray from BA's Cape Cod reporter...

http://www.d1baseball.com/premium/cape-c...n-dealing/

Quote:– Tristan Gray (2017, INF, Rice) continues to show that he has some of the best pure bat speed on the Cape. His tools should translate well at second base at the next level, although we’ll have to see more from him at shortstop, but it’s the lefty bat that has scouts intrigued. He’s developed more power to his pull side, and his smooth lefty stroke has produced hard line drives to all parts of the field so far this summer.

As I mentioned in a different thread, assuming Warren does return (since he wasn't drafted or signed as a FA) and the Weatherford CC power hitting, left-handed bat will be replacing Teykl at 1B (according to JP's latest posts), Tristan will likely get an opportunity to return to the infield at 2B next season. Could be one of the better hitting offensive infields in college baseball if the JUCO xfer lives up to expectations, joining Myers, Proctor, Gray and DiCaprio. Pretty darn good defensively, as well, provided Dom can further develop his catching skills (and lose the weight the coaching staff would like to see to give him more flexibility behind the plate).

RE: Summer Baseball Thread
And D1's Cape reporter tweeting on Ford Proctor last night...

Ford Proctor @RiceOwlsBSB has had some outstanding game swings. Love the approach, hard shots to all fields/smooth at SS for @harborhawks

...and he just posted his more extensive, and highly flattering writeup...

http://www.d1baseball.com/premium/cape-c...d1baseball

Quote:– Ford Proctor (2018, SS, Rice) is an elite prospect and a potential first round selection in the 2018 draft class. He’s looked that impressive in recent games on the Cape, and this is coming off an outstanding freshman season at Rice. He’s a slick defender at shortstop with athleticism and speed, but the bat has been what’s truly stood out for Hyannis so far this summer. Proctor is having outstanding, patient at-bats, allowing the ball to track deep and showing power to the opposite field gap. His swing has been among the most compact and quick in the league, and he’s shown flashes of easy raw power in batting practice. And the best may still be yet to come.

BTW, Piliere is not only D1's Cape reporter, but he's their national prospect writer and a former scout for the Texas Rangers.
