RE: millennial smackdown
So the older generation thinks the younger generation is full of lazy/idiot people... This has been going on since the beginning of man. When millennials are old, they will think the next generation are idiots as well.

These guys are interns, so they probably deserved to get canned. Interns are there to do work and learn, not to have opinions. I do pay my interns, the "unpaid" internships are absolute crap, dont hire one if you cant pay them at least a little bit.

I do understand their comment about dress code, I think the "formal" dress code is a bit archaic for everyday office lives. If you have a outside meeting/conference/etc. then dress formally. But if you're in the office, and don't have clients coming in that day... I dont care if you show up in shorts/t-shirt, as long as the work is getting done, nothing else matters.

Formal dress code is archaic for many things, but there are times when it is needed. Interns are the last people to understand what sort of dress code is appropriate. Also, interns need to show they can get up and dress themselves properly with discipline.

If they believed the dress code was too formal for what they were doing, they could have simply brought it up and asked why the formal dresswear was required, and whether it could be relaxed at some point. They would have gotten an answer as to why or why not the company could or could not do that.

Thats not what they did.

They banded together into a letter, and called the business managers and one woman in particular hypocrites for allowing the woman to not follow the dress code.

That woman was a wounded vet, who had her leg blown off in war. The company allowed her, and any other person who's leg was blown off protecting our country, to wear whatever shoe they could comfortably walk in.

I have no problem not paying money to puppy dog interns that simply follow people around to learn the ropes.

I have a problem when you use an interns skill and knowledge to make you money and you don't pay them.

However, I do place a higher respect on those businesses that do pay something.

I would say that depends on the scope and scale of their programs. In principle I agree with you but there are companies who abuse intern programs.

one would assume a competent intern would have A clue and dodge those programs.....

nah.....muh millennial reigns supreme in scope....

Well, yeah, figured only folks in college would take an unpaid anything. If one is out of college then that ship has sailed.
