Exclamation Memphis the Lesser Opponent
First, I don't know anything about the site. I thought this article might create some football conversation.

http://thedailycougar.com/2016/07/01/foo...n/#628tab1

The Cougars will travel to Memphis on Nov. 25 for a rematch with the Tigers. This matchup meets all the criteria as a “trap game” for the Cougars: it will be the final game of the season, it’s against a lesser opponent and it will be the first road game in more than a month.

RE: Memphis the Lesser Opponent
Other than the "lesser opponent" has practically had to hand the game to them the last two seasons for them to win... I guess I agree.

We are past due a W against Houston. Lost three in a row. All nail-biters and all ones that we let slip away. Time to dominate them.

Go Tigers!

04-cheers Hopefully we won't need to hit a field goal to win the game this year. I hope we are ahead by 21 points with time running out.

RE: Memphis the Lesser Opponent
Houston got out ahead of us for making progress on making FB a priority.
Houston is and has been ahead of us on upping the quality of recruits.
Houston has a richer, deeper recruiting base than we do.
Houston got out ahead of us on winning and sustaining.
Houston played on a bigger national venue wher we stumbled in2015.
Houston is beating is.

Right now Houston has the better program. They didn't "coog it" last year, we did.

There is nothing we can't overcome to regain a step ahead of Houston...it starts by beating them in November.

I felt we should have won the last 2 years but give them credit for pulling it out. There is a lot to be said for them persevering and never giving up. Conversely, we needed to remain focused and play smart (we didn't). It is all part of the game.

Two years ago they essentially won when their QB was able to run when the designed play broke down. As I recall the QB was the replacement for the starter who wasn't so mobile. Not sure if we had game tape of him. Don't recall the specs.

Last year we simply blew it. I give them a ton of props for not giving up but in the end I feel we blew it. Just my opinion.

Both teams were pretty evenly matched the last few years (as evidenced by the scores). I think it is a bit if a stretch to call either a 'lesser team'.

I've been waiting for Houston to return to the Liberty Bowl since 11 Oct 2014.

Last year our game plan was to stop their running QB. Which we did. We were putting a hurting on them.

Then he got hurt. And they subbed a passing QB who ate our lunch.

We've got to get better pass defense.

if the defensive line can give a good pass rush...that will help the defensive backs in coverage some.
If you have a sucky d line...better have good defenders. If you have sucky defenders...better have a good d line.

We've lost 6 straight games to houston and several of those games we gave away, but still.... we have lost 6 straight and haven't beaten this team since 2005.

They own us right now.

I want us to beat Houston this year as badly as I want the Vols to beat the Gators.
