This attack took place last year but a lawsuit was filed yesterday, thus the current news report.

The girl was arrested and spent the night in jail. Can you imagine what it would be like for a mentally challenged to be beaten and incarcerated?

The Memphis police are also named in the suit. I'd speculate the city of Memphis could be looking at a $100+ million settlement.

And for all the aqua tabellari on here who might question the source, I hope their little brains accept ABC as a viable news source.

The TSA is the perfect example of a useless agency that spawns nothing but wannabe cops.

Every unhappy run-in I've ever had with the TSA was due to their total incompetence.

What the **** is wrong with these agents?!? What gives them the authority to act like thugs?

The Memphis Airport Police and TSA are separate from MPD...

I was just on a flight at Boston Logan Airport. While it wasn't the most pleasant experience going through the TSA check points there, flying one day after the situation at the Brussels Airport definitely increased the security presence. The TSA is certainly at fault here, but I think they have a tough job to do and so far (knock on wood) we haven't had any situations in our airports since 9/11 so they deserve some credit for that (at least I think that's the case - I'm probably forgetting something that's happened since then).

This is what you get when you want more security.

Typical govt agency. Most of them could **** up a wet dream.

Your tax dollars at work.

Somebody needs to do time for this. A lot of time.

yep.....my suitcase once got sniffed flying out of JXN about 10 yrs ago....I just laughed at those poor stupid fkrs....to their fk'n face....

From an emotional standpoint, it's tough to watch. You feel for the mother and daughter, and the hellish years of fighting cancer when she should be having fun, gearing up for college. She probably has a short life span in front of her. The photo is heart-wrenching.

From a legal standpoint, not sure how this goes. The article says the "mother tried repeatedly to tell personnel about Cohen's brain tumor and disabilities." But realistically, they needed a signed doctor's note or medical card with them at all times. Simply 'telling' airport security isn't going to cut it.

Hate to say this, goes against our emotional reactions, but I bet the TSA is found not culpable. They will say they have to follow the rule book to everyone, and once she took a swing at 2:26, it was game on. I hated witnessing what went on there, but I'm not sure what the law says as far as negligence here.

Credit the family for suing for $100,000 instead of looking for a multi-million dollar payday.
