Under Armour 2016 Uniforms
Well, check this out... So how does our contract work? Do they make little changes to the uniforms every year or will this year's look pretty much the same as the last?

And the July shipments start on day one! New gear, New year. Thanks @PFlynnUA @UnderArmour #TeamUA

RE: Under Armour 2016 Uniforms
I'm thinking they have free reign for design and we can approve or deny if I read what they have released correctly. I don't think they'll change the major sport jerseys too much, but soccer/volleyball/track/lax may get some bigger changes.

I think I am in the minority but I don't like our UA football uniforms and helmet (the design down the middle).

You probably are in the minority, but I understand it. I'm a fan of the stripe to break things up a bit, but having the classic black with red metallic helmets and C-paw for so long it is an adjustment. I think this year they'll correct the issue they had with the third jerseys (still holding out hope for a Cincinnati Pride jersey incorporating the flag) and keep something very similar to the standard home and away.

Those looks a little square in the shoulders and have a boxy look.

Incorporating the city flag would be cool.

While the city flag is tradition and has been a positive part of the team entering the field at Nippert, I have reservations about using it on the uniform. We're all proud of our University's name for good reason. But outside the I-275 beltway, the city name on the university seems to raise concerns. It's been suggested here that Big 12 leaders don't like it and others P5 conferences may have similar prejudices among their leadership against city-named urban universities.

We haven't been a municipal university for more than 40 years now and the University has made great strides to become a comprehensive public research center with an international reach and reputation. My feeling is we want to be known as that other public university powerhouse in Ohio; not the city's school. Breaking out of the municipal school perception has been a long hard battle and it's not over yet.

I say let's honor that tradition, but not make it a point of emphasis on the uniforms.

I agree 100%. Not only with that, but I feel the uniforms are getting a little too busy. Like... Oregon busy. I wouldn't have believed this about myself 5 years ago but I'm really not a fan of having completely different uniforms each game. I like things simple I guess. I wish we had just one helmet (preferably the black without the stripe), 3 jerseys (black white and red) and 2 pants (black or white... Really not a fan of the red pants). That way it could be set up like this: 2 games black on black, 3 games white on white, 2 games black on white, 3 games white on black, 1 game red on black, one game red on white.

Well said. The best uni's were PSU traditional winning game after game.

I dislike the city flag as it seems limited in appeal.

I still wish the school was named OUC (Ohio University-Cincinnati) or OPU (Ohio Polytechnical University) or OIT (Ohio Institute of Technology) or OUT.

No, there is nothing wrong with the Cincinnati name or brand. Not every school needs the state name. Many successful athletic programs do not contain the state name and many awful academic and athletic institutions use a state to elevate themselves even though it does nothing for their reputation. I would like to see the University of Cincinnati go back to using "UC" on the athletic side to compliment "Cincinnati" and "Bearcats" as primary marks.

Under Armour on the uniform side has been ok. Would like to see a throwback for football and basketball and less of the Cincinnati Stripe.

We should be proud to be the University of Cincinnati. Don't let the Big 12 or anyone else shame us into downplaying that we are a "city" school. If our metropolitan area was a state, we would rank 36th in population.

^^ the problem is only about 30-40% of the Cincinnati metro cares about UC athletics (and the number might've lower). We aren't going to ever convert any of these locals who root for XU, UK, OSU, etc.

UC needs to continue spreading their brand throughout the state. When we get to the point to where there is an audience to watch UC athletics in other parts of the state we will be in much better shape.

And that is already growing. The university is slowly pushing their way north. I remember seeing a map a year or so ago about locations of where Cincinnati apparel is selling.

10 years ago, it was in Cincinnati. 5 years ago, it was just to Dayton.

We now have apparel in stores in all areas of the state. It wouldn't be there if it wasn't selling.

I wish I could find that back.

Only change to the name is more accuracy--The University of Cincinnati System. Its locations all over southwestern Ohio and the city with the Clifton Campus being the flagship school.02-13-banana

thank god doss is just a regular peasant and has no actual power or influence over the university, unlike major, rich donors like Sheakley.

RE: Under Armour 2016 Uniforms
I don't mind being Cincinnati but to some it is a negative.

The ACC of the P5's has most of the city named schools (BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Miami, UL). I think Wake Forest gave the city the name.

In the SEC I guess you could argue that Auburn.
Non in the B1G.
None in the B12
None in the P12 unless you want to consider UCLA.

Who is on the outside? Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston. Wish the ACC wanted UC and UH or UC and UM.

The schools you listed that are on the outside (Cincy, Memphis, UH) are on the outside because we were all late to the game in the arms race for stadiums, fan base, investing in football, investing in academics, investing in campus, etc. not because we have city school names.

You already pointed out it hasn't hurt Auburn, UCLA, Pitt, Cuse, BC, Miami or UofL.
