This certainly seems like a nice post player pickup for Coach O. A former 5-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz (4th best post player, 33rd best overall).

Wow. Great pickup. Aside from the obvious of finding any excuse to hightail it out of Blacksburg, any idea why she left?

Was kinda wondering the same thing myself. Especially considering all the hoopla around the program with Kenny taking over. Curious to say the least. She is from Vienna here in NoVa. Perhaps she wanted to be closer to home.

Obviously that's out of our league in terms of high school hype and star rating. But it's out of Tech's League too. And she was recruited hard by Kenny out of high school and has extensive family connections to VT. It's puzzling but not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Reading this interview w/ her back in May, Kenny may have helped in selling her on O'Regan and JMU once she decided to leave?
The Vienna native said in a phone interview that she wanted to transfer even before Dennis Wolff was fired in March. She said new coach Kenny Brooks wanted her to stay on the team.
"It wasn't the right fit for me as a school," Koshuta said. "I kind of wanted to leave halfway through the year. Even with the coaching change, Tech just wasn't the right … fit for me for basketball- and school-wise."

This says it all right here.

Sounds about right for someone going to school at Tech. Can you really blame her. Probably wanted to go to JMU all along but went to Va Tech for all the wrong reasons. Looks like she has it figured out now, good for her and welcome aboard!

High School kids make decisions on where they will attend based on a host of reasons, and quite often for the emotional reasons. In her case the idea of playing in the ACC possibly clouded her better judgment. Happy to have her join the Lady Dukes!

Is it possible that Kenny Brooks directed her to his alma mater or ex assistant when it became apparent that she wanted out of Tech?

Funny you should mention that. My wife and I were talking about that last night. We both would not be surprised if that was the case.

And perhaps this also points out that the women's bball program is not going to completely collapse as a result of Kenny Brooks leaving. This is the most highly-regarded recruit I can recall JMU getting.

I know a certain Cheerleader who felt the same way about Tech and Transferred to JMU "It wasn't the right fit for me as a school" I even hear to this day. With NO Regrets
But found after transferring that JMU was the RIGHT FIT !

I wouldn't be surprised that Kenny wanted to and tried to keep her but realizing her mind was made up, referred her to his former assistant now head coach O'Reagan and then Sean took it over from there.

Sadly, I know one. He is delusional. We also had a conversation the night before the win over VT where he described JMU's chance to win at "less than 2%". I told him 100% chance Dukes Crush & Dukes Crushed.

So are we even now? Kenny took one JMU recruit to VT, and we took one VT player? I'll call that even.

Yes, but we need to monitor the situation to see how they play at their new schools...

I haven't heard of anyone besides his daughter, but that still counts.
