Maybe gay pride should be a celebration by all gays that they are lucky to be in the USA.

Tom, I have a number of gay friends. Given our locations, we probably know some of the same gay people. The ones I know love being in Houston and focus on enjoying the good parts of being here instead of obsessing with the kinds of complaints that you are constantly harping on.

Oh, I'm fine. I wouldn't live here if I didn't want to. Warts and all. But remember there's a difference between being aware of the problems and trying to change them, and trying to ignore it.

I do know a lot of Gays up in your part of Montgomery Co. You are likely correct that the Montgomery County crowd is much more Conservative. Basically people who choose to live up there are more willing to put up with the right wing. They could move, easily, down to Harris County. But some don't.

There are 10-15 million out LGBT people in the USA. Some aren't going to be politically active.

By the way, there are bad people out there who are out to get us. And they are powerful. Dan Patrick is one. So, no, for me the option isn't - just shut up and learn to live with whatever scraps of acceptance straight people deem 'enough' for us. And those scraps are only there because people struggled for them. The gains of the last 15 years (and they've been real) didn't happen because straight people just woke up and said "hey, lets give Gays more rights". They happened because LGBT people were activists for their own cause.

Dan Patrick is a first class a-hole. On that you'll get no disagreement from me.

Not that it's a big deal, but most of the gay people I know are from Harris County. And they run the gamut from left to right. But they are pretty much all very comfortable in Houston the way it is.

Funny thing, this Dan was doing sports talk in Houston with the shock jock routine (or maybe more of just an a-hole routine) when the other Dan landed the ESPN gig. There was some initial reaction of, "ESPN hired that a-hole?" It was fueled in part because the two look--and sound--somewhat alike, giving effect to this Dan's Texas accent.

This Dan went on to bigger and better things in the local radio market, became an outspoken conservative (attends Ed Young's Second Baptist, IIRC), and is now Lt Governor of Texas. Which is really bad because the way the Texas constitution is set up, the Lt Governor is very arguably more powerful than the governor.

Meh, not a big deal to me either wwoay. Who the hell would use that damn service anyway.

But someone wants to make a point about public accommodations, I suppose.

And might be offended that a commercial enterprise calling itself "Christian" wants to define Christianity as not being compatible with being Gay. Not a church, but a commercial enterprise.

It's not compatible with any wanton, unrepentant, and prideful sin *INCLUDING* homosexuality.

since I'm froggy....

any chance you would wish to define why a christian would chastise one as being gay in relative terms (excluding the bibble blather)

my first roommate was gay and recently got off the phone with one of my gay friends....and I'm as hetero as they come *pun*time

I just don't get it....'course I'm that horned atheist feller....lol

You'll have to show me where I "chastised" someone. I merely stated that homosexuality is a sin. That's no more chastising that saying adultery or fornication is a sin.

My doc is a homosexual. Nice guy who I trust with my health and the health of my children.

I think demanding that insisting something which is called out as a sin in both the old and new testaments be called compatible with Christianity is fracking silly. And you see folks like Tom regularally try to do it.

fair enough....was only pointing out the christian/gay sin thingy...IMO that is worthy of "chastising" since I'm an atheist (which I point out to ad nauseam)

none of it makes sense to me....I choose to not address anything in that sensual realm until one does....

IMO, it's a complete waste of focus in any response factory....

but what do I know??!

addendum: it will part of the metaphorically written if'n I can sell it....
