Yep, meeting your Administrations goal of being the G5 rep in post season play, sooner rather than later, pretty much shuts the door on excuses going forward.

Again, just like it was no problem correcting the black-eye associated with losing to an SBC teams in 2014, it should be no problem correcting the problem of losing to any G5 starting now, and no excuses excepted.

I would also advise your HC o throw in a few wins over P5's to boot, and the sooner the better.

Line of reasoning. Simple.

A-State and ULL are regarded as the best "programs" in the SBC, and the last few years A-State has had the most talented roster of players in the SBC, although it has been close between the two.

Based only on those facts it was reasonable to predict that they would compete for championships every year the last few years, and despite undergoing an unprecedented number of coaching changes, which most predicted would lead to short term failure, did.

Looking ahead, they now enjoy an even greater advantage in roster talent over their SBC competition, and while still losing coaches to P5's ( not other G5's) have some stability in coaching, and players recruited by those coaches for their system.

They have also invested big-time into their program, committed to invest even more, and their fans, administrations, and media are making it crystal clear that they want and expect more than just being the best SBC program...........a lot more, starting now.

Based on listening and reading their comments, their coaches seem to have gotten the message.

Not unreasonable based on even these few observations, and knowing for a fact how their talent compares to the other SBC teams, to predict not only continued success but a higher level of success for their program.

Not in my job description, the people that paid me to crunch the numbers evaluate the talent and assign those numbers.

I've been told that they are the gold-standard in that regards, and fyi USA should not be losing to GaSo, or AppSt.

I guess that means these assigned numbers don't mean much once the game is played. Truth is the majority of the players at all of these schools are similar in talent. What determines wins and loses are the coaching staffs, and the work ethic of the players. No amount of number crunching can determine those.

Are you saying that USA has more talent than those 2? I would love to see your ranking of the conference based on "talent"

Being old school I really want to believe what you are saying but it is simply not true, for the most part.

I do agree that the overall talent in the SBC among the top 4-5 teams is similar, and more importantlyhaving the best roster of talent does not translate to having the best 2-deep on any given Saturday. A top level FCS program can put together a 2-deep that can beat most P5's if the P5's chose not to show up. Having the best roster of talent is more helpful for a overall season prediction. Macro not micro..

Yes talent is not everything when it comes to winning, but I've always been told it was 80% of it, and Saban thinks it is 99.999999% of it.

I have shifted toward Saban.

Also important is how does where the game is played effect the teams talent, how does the weather effect the teams talent, how experienced is the talent, what position is the talent playing, how healthy is the talent on game day , is that talent eligible for the game, and somewhere down the list is coaching, officiating, fans engagement, etc.

The OL is a good example of where most coaches would prefer a seasoned vet over a more talented youngster.

Even though ULL has only been down one year, the rise of GS and APP has likely kicked ULL out of that distinction. ULL will rebound, but I don't think they will continue to be the 2nd best program in the SBC. GS and APP are likely tied for that distinction at the moment, despite only being here two seasons.

Not at all, and having the best team does not mean you have the best program.

Really not sure where ULL is in the rebound process just looking at numbers. Rather like trying to factor in coaching changes at A-State. I just go by the raw data, and assume no problem.

FYI I would not be surprised if GaSo finishes in the middle of the SBC this year, and both they and AppSt ( losing to them and TxSt is something their coach should be reminded of every day for as long as he is there, totally no excuse, none, zero) will fall behind A-State in the pecking order in the near future, and probably ULL.

GaSo better hope they are not pegged in as the #2 Georgia team in the SBC because GaSt has the resources to make that happen. Just not sure about the will.

Define "talent"

4.26 in the 40

46 inch vertical leap

27 ft+ long jump ability

over 650 lbs in the squat

having a 30 inch vertical at 320 lbs

not a talent, but should be noted is the ability to discipline yourself to the point that you watch so much film and break it down so much as a player that you can, as a defender, call out what the opposing offense is going to run when you see a certain formation because you know that in that formation they......for example sweep right 73% of the time. And the other team keeps asking ....how does he know what we are going to run? Not sure that's a talent, but it sure is handy to have a couple players like that.

Ability to throw a football 100 yards

All the above can be stated as talent when it comes to football.

Again not sure.

A-States Cameron Echols-Luper was listed as one of the top athletic freaks this year, and looked the part in their spring game but the experts on SBC football don't seem to think he is elite by SBC standards.

Heck they don't think much of any of your 3-4-5 star players with similar attributes. Those 2-star AppSt, and GaSo players are the cream of the SBC crop.

Little fun Appy, and you Georgia Peaches, enjoy the season.

As I've said everywhere (don't remember many here joining me, and got banned from the CUSA board for my troubles) getting you was one of if not the biggest gets of realignment, and I would not trade you for all the teams that left.

God speed, and I'm now retired.

Well I will monitor that Razorback forum.

Obviously. GS has been better than them two years in a row. Not just one team. APP has beaten ULL back to back, both times handedly. GS and APP have both been better than ULL two years in a row and bring back a lot. ULL is coming off a 4-8 season with few to no proven playmakers.

No tangible reason too.

No tangible reason? Its called having the best records in the conference since the two of us joined. Thats what matters, not the bulls*&t "talent" you keep talking about.

Now a question for you, are you stupid or just a plain ole dumb***? I keep going back and forth between the two.

I applaud you, Seminole. Your trolling level is unparalleled. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my fellow Eagles get all pissed off due to your trolling. Enjoy the rest of the offseason, good luck this year!

Can it be football season yet??
