CAA Alum and the NBA
The Utah Jazz agreed to a partially guaranteed 3 year deal with Quincy Ford of Northeastern. Seems similar to the partially guaranteed deal that the Denver Nuggets signed with that gum chewer Bennimon a couple of years ago.

Also David Walker of Northeastern is on Miami Heat's summer league team. I believe Damion Lee (formerly of Drexel) is on the team as well.

No word on Conference POY Juan'ya Green- he had been discussed as a pro prospect (even though Ron Curry played with him or even out played him over the last two years).

Kent Bazemore (former ODU player) looks to be in line for a big pay raise and a multi year deal as a Free Agent (rotation player for the Atlanta Hawks last year).

Is Barea still around? Too lazy to look it up

Edit: went ahead and looked it up...looks like he still plays for Dallas. And dated a Miss Puerto Rico and a Miss Universe. Thank you Wikipedia

RE: CAA Alum and the NBA
Benimon played in the NBA summer league last summer, I believe it was, and he turned down a training camp invite to the Cleveland Cavaliers to play in China, I thought it was. I saw Benimon at the JMU-Towson game in Baltimore.

Barea played last year again with Dallas after playing in Minnesota, I thought it was.

Ford always seemed to show better to me than Walker, yet Walker was considered the higher level prospect.

Personally, I like Curry better as a player than Green. You'd have to think the JMU site would post an article if Curry got a summer league invite.

Speaking of the CAA, former football player David Szcur [sic] is now playing baseball for the Chicago Cubs.

To clarify, those are two different women. It was worth the research.

Marcus Thornton came back from Australia and played in the last month of the 15/16 D-League season with the Boston Celtics' D-League team in Maine (remember Boston drafted him in 2nd Round last year). He played in 12 games (6 starts) since returning to the US avg. 27.1 min, 13.6 pts, 46 FG%, 36 3P%, 2.5 assists.

Harrisonburg based side note: Ralph Sampson III was also with the Boston D League team this season.

Grammatically, you made it clear. I think my brain just didn't comprehend that a man was lucky enough to date a Miss Universe and a Miss "Country"

2016 NBA Summer League Rosters are out.
http://www.nba.com/summerleague/2016/players/

At first glance I see:
Damion Lee w/Heat
RJ Hunter w/Celtics
Marcus Thornton w/Celtics
Quincy Ford w/Jazz

David Walker is also on the Heat's Summer League team.

Bazemore 4 years $70M to resign with Atlanta. That's Charles Cooke's path- 2nd round/unsigned FA make a name for yourself on both sides of the ball, find a team where you become a rotation guy then get paid. Similar body size and skill set as Bazemore.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't see Cooke as an NBA player. Awfully tough to make the NBA with only 450 slots across the league and the world as a feeder. Look at the latest NBA draft to see the number of foreign players drafted.

Cooke did explore entering the draft and the feedback was obviously to stay in school another year.

Bazemore's growth as a player has surprised me. He was primarily a defensive stopper and is now able to hit threes with some consistency.

I'd be curious to see if the UNCW star gets a look at the next level. He's got one year left.

Cooke is a way better player than the UNCW player and it is not even close. I think Charles has a chance because he has good size to play the 2 in the NBA. His shooting was much better last year, but he needs to work on his handle and strength in order to get a look next year.

RE: CAA Alum and the NBA
A lot of the foreign guys are draft-and-stash guys that are a couple years away from getting to the NBA. I am not sure whether Cooke will be drafted, or whether he will go unsigned, but I do know that if he can get on a Summer League team, he will have a solid chance to make a roster. I think he has the talent to turn heads and show that he belongs. He might be bouncing around between the bench and the NBDL his first year, but I could see a Bazemore style career arc for him, albeit as a 2 rather than a 3/4.

RE: CAA Alum and the NBA
Cooke was encouraged to test himself and get feed by coach, with many NBA teams requesting this as well, because he was relatively unknown until his breakout season last year. Many teams are high on Cooke after his measurable and good work outs,if he takes care of business this year don't be surprised if he is draft pick or high priority UFA come next summer.

Surprised Curry isn't on a NBA summer league roster, trio of teams were high on him too. I think Curry is a player that could have a very lucrative over seas stint, he has the advantage of playing on roster with half the UN on it. He also has a very good agent.

Jerrelle Benimon wasn't on the list. He is playing with Nets this summer, they seem to be very high on him and have had several work outs with him in past couple months.

Man, I can't help but be curious what Nation might be thinking about now. As part of that class who many thought had more talent than the other two. It would be great if he could somehow get things together enough to play some overseas ball.

+1,000 why, why, why could that young man not keep it together enough to learn as much as possible and play basketball in/for four years?
