2 games for being late to a meeting or class is a bit excessive.... Probably smoking weed which tends to be a problem for all athletes nowadays.

Do they random drug test the athletes? This punishment would make sense if they do.

The team will be just fine and this type of situation usually builds depth. Grad transfers Powell & Moore (Earl) will help fill the shoes as well as Olekanma.

When the guys return UT will be a deeper team.

Go Rockets!

If that were the case, wouldn't it be a minor misdemeanor with $150 fine?
I would assume only a team violation would be just that. Otherwise staff might be risking some problems.

They are being suspended for breaking "team rules". That doesn't neccisarily have to line up with what the punishment would be for the average citizen.

Eh, if this were the offences, wouldn't that put the coaches in the position of not reporting a crime? Is it a crime? I can't keep up. I think speculation of the reasons is their fault for not just saying what the reasons are. Vacuums and all that.

Anyhow, if this is going to be a problem, boot someone. Seriously. Buy them a ticket to Colorado, whatever but it's not worth giving scholarships for 70% effort. If they want to repay the University for the proportion of tuition they're not available to play, them maybe. Otherwise, fly.

It would also violate NCAA rules. Marijuana is on the NCAA Banned Substance list.

Then I don't think that's a particular good (or fair) speculation. I'm back to thinking they went to the wrong club. The athletic dept probably has a list of approved booby bars and they went to one not on the list. Or skipped class or something.
