So.... $100. Per person.

Does that mean it's a comp bar? Or is this a situation where they are trying to raise money, and it's an open bar? Cuz... if my wife an I go and drop a couple Cs on this event, we better either be getting some Texas de Brazil level food, or the University of Memphis Football team should be benefiting some major dinero.

I'd rather it be the U getting money than us getting gormet food.

Am I right? Am I right?

You've been around long enough to know how it goes. I might attend but I'll keep that extra Ben in case it turns out the way I expect.

This is just me, but I as I understand it, the $100 per person provides beer and Kooky Kanuk food at no extra charge. I suggest that you contact the football office to learn more.

RE: Coach Norvell - Open Mike Night
Event was well attended. The adult beverages and Kooky Canuck food was good. Some interesting beers and some sort of orange alcoholic beverage Coach Ball took a liking too.
Tour of the practice facilitate and the X's and O's talk was good also. This season is going to be fun to watch I believe.
All the coaches gave a break down of what to look for this year on both sides of the ball with the X's and O's and coach Dickie as usual was great.
Everyone should know what the A, B, C, and D gaps are and the defensive alignments.
Then the offensive schem on what a defense is giving and how to go vertical down field.
And then there was Coach Dickie with the break down on the running backs. He said coaching that position is easy. He tells them the 1st and 3rd qtrs the end zone is that way so run that way. 2nd and 4th qtrs the end zone is that way so run that way.
Actually he went into what running back are looking for as far as gaps.

Yeah it was fun.

Coach Dickey has a future in stand-up comedy if he ever wants to quit coaching. He cracks me up every time.

The entire event was fun and very educational. It gave us a little insight into how complex that "simple" game of football really is, with various offensive personnel alignments, defensive calls to counter their offense, option plays, etc.

I can't think of a better way to get to know our coaching staff and to get pumped up for the upcoming football season.

Nice souvenir beer glasses with OPEN MIKE NIGHT on them, too. They look good on our bar.

Generally Coaches don't use mic's. Their voices carry enough.
They did have a pointer though.

The game he coached against auburn wasn't funny one damn bit.

Players were demoralized after Fuente left. I told people I didn't like that matchup before the bowl game..
