Our press box needs updating, and your track needs removal. It's comparing apples to oranges because one is on the field and involves many more people and is seen more on TV, while the other effects less people, but directly impacts people who give lots of money to the school.

This rivalry will likely sway back and forth for decades to come and it's good for both fan bases.

Exactly. But it is sooooo much fun to poke and pry at one another. Some people might get all hot and bothered, but I'm having a ball.

Yep. Rivalries build conferences. I'm loving this. I respect the hell out of GS, and am not offended at the shade they throw our way.

But until they reverse the trend over the last decade, they're Gnatamounts.

Thanks! I originally counted 3 wins and when I changed it forgot to fix the percentage.

They did. As did Wake, Marshal, and others while Georgia Southern only managed to pen home games with Presby and UMass.

Maybe your campus is TOO assessable. .

Just stop with Miami, you had a FCS game you could buy out and Miami was forced to accept any terms. You won the tallest midget award with Miami. ArkSt actually landed them legitly.

GS will not get better home games until we can offer a decent allotment to visiting teams or we tank hard. Neither is not going to happen anytime soon. Short term pain for not throwing up the cheap erector set type expansion you see at some many stadiums these days.

It's good to know App has the influence to force a 5 time national champion into accepting our terms. Guess we made 'em a deal they couldn't refuse! 05-mafia

Miami could have played a home game with an FCS school, but with App's RPI being pretty high this season it was a good move for the them. You know Kleinlein would have jumped at the chance if the opportunity had been presented to him. You can keep playing FCS schools in your nice concrete stadium. I'll take playing 2 ACC and CUSA schools in our erector set stands.

BTW, when are you guys going to do something about that pressbox? I was in it last year and shocked at how bad it is. It honestly looks like a bunch of metal construction trailers that had been stacked on top of each other.

Just wanted to say that THAT probably wasn't a real option since they are already doing that two weeks earlier. If I remember the rules correctly (and I admit I may not, or they could have changed) - then they would not have been able to count both wins (IF they win!) towards Bowl eligibility. MAYBE a key sticking point with a new coach in place, striking one possible win towards making a bowl?

All joking aside, your AD did a good job making this happen - but you have to admit that y'all had some pretty good leverage to get that game at home. I do give your administration props for not accepting what ever pay day the Canes might have promised you to get that game at their house. I imagine it was better than the standard rate. Would have gave them 7 home games.

The real question is, was it a "trend" or an anomaly?

All of the losses are going to count, no argument there. BUT - One has to understand that we are including the Brian Vandipcrap year and Hatcher's years (God bless him, I still like the heck out of that guy, but it just wasn't "Southern Football").

So - Did we learn from our mistake of deviating from our path of success? Did we learn to stay with an option based offensive attack? Do we now understand that Statesboro is just one of those places in the Universe where our football and the option cannot be separated and NEVER should such an attempt be made again?

We are about to find out.

First program to win a bowl game in their first year of eligibility, got you by a few days on that one, finishing in the top 35 in two major polls last season, two P5's at home in the next two seasons, one of the best up and coming coaches in the country, and our 2016 opener is being broadcasted nationally on ESPN. Have y'all accomplished any of this? You,ve won the conference, but that is about all you have on us right now. Enjoy it while it last.

I'm not even gonna address that first bowl win BS. That is such a reach your arm must have fallen off. No one notices where you finish unless it's in the Top 25. Miami fans are frantically googling App State because they've never heard of you before. I am jealous of your future schedules, I'll give you that. Your coach will be gone in a few months. We've been on ESPN channels more than you. Been there, done that. This is getting fun

First team to win a bowl in their first year of eligibility. How is that a reach? It is factual. Everything I gave you is factual. Down play it all you want, but you still have none of this. Plenty of publication have made statements that we were 11-2, the only SB team to ever finish with 11 wins, and finished just outside the top 25. They seemed to have noticed. My Tennessee buddy's all noticed. I have a sneaky suspicion Miami fans noticed, and have indeed heard of us. I think everyone has heard of us after beating a top 5 program in 2007. That is another thing y'all have never done. It gave us brand recognition that you just don't have. Sorry, but your attempts to tag us as a hollow program are unsuccessful. I look forward to your baseless rebuttal.

You've already got the baseless rebuttal thing down so I'll let you keep that one. And I had forgotten that your brand is so big that no G5 team can ever hope to match it. What are you still doing in the Sun Belt? Shouldn't the mighty App State be in the ACC by now? After all, y'all beat Michigan 10 years ago. Sorry for assuming that nobody still cared. I don't know what I was thinking. Looks like there's no reason to keep playing football since App State has obviously surpassed every other team in the G5 with its prowess, talent, and unmatchable national brand. Forgive me.

Also just want to lay out there that y'all were the first to win a bowl game because your bowl was one of the earliest bowls scheduled but of course App State fans are going to spin it like going to the Camelia Bowl is an actual accomplishment

I provide you facts, you provide me rhetoric. Like I said, baseless. You are a waste of resources my friend. I wish you luck in your smear campaign.

Don't quit on me yet. It was just getting good! How's this for facts:

These are google trends for Georgia Southern and App Football. Obviously we know what that big spike in 2007 is but after that your "brand recognition" dropped off the face of the map. And since you were so sure your accolades outmatched any conference member last season just take a look at 2015. Thank you.

Now we can finish. 04-cheers

You are correlating brand recognition with web searches. The issue I have with this is, how many of those searches are coming from people that are already associated with our universities? My guess is the majority. Also, there is no indication of how this graph is being measured. We have no idea what the difference is between the lines of measurement. Do we have a difference of 20 hits or 200? Either way, they appear to be within reach of each other, with the exception of 2007.

I never said our accolades outmatched anybody's. You like to make statements up as you go. You asked what we have done, and I gave you factual answers. I still stand by the opinion that a win like we had over Michigan, has had a more profound impact on our brand recognition than any other game you have ever won in school history. It gave us exposure to people all over the globe. It put us on the cover of Sports Illustrated!! You can't measure that type of exposure with web hits alone. If it's web hits that you are looking for, I'm sure being on probation will help GS get many more.

It is our third year in the FBS most of our key starters are still FCS recruits while you went young year one in the FBS, let's see how this pans out down the road. Nothing is guaranteed and of course I am biased but I'm gonna go with the team that only has to stick its head out the window to recruit vs one that has to travel half the country to put together the 117th out of 128th best class in the FBS and 8th best in the Sun Belt. Not to mention being the 7th FBS team in a talent poor state vs being one of only four in a top five talent state.

I have never rooted for Miami but....

We had SOME young starters, but our 2015 teams featured mostly FCS guys. Here are our starters from the GS game last year. Only the 4 in red came after we joined the Sun Belt. Next excuse...

TE 85 Burns, Barrett
LT 73 Harris, Davante
LG 75 Collins, Parker
C 60 Chapman, Jesse
RG 70 Gossett, Colby
RT 50 Nunn, Beau
WR 7 Jones, Malachi
WR 81 Beathard, Bobo
RB 83 McElfresh, S.
QB 11 Lamb, Taylor
RB 14 Cox, Marcus

DE 49 Blair, Ronald

DE 40 Norwood, Nate
OLB 6 Gilchrist, K.
ILB 88 Law, John
ILB 45 Boggs, Eric
OLB 1D Stringer, Devan
SS 21 Middleton, Doug
FS 3 Gray, Alex
CB 5 Gibbs, Latrell
CB 4 Williams, Mondo

Dumb one, I said still as in THIS year. First, second, third year take off your shoes or just count your teeth if you need help. I said nothing about last years teams as we were about all FCS on both sides of the ball. Our only significant young FBS playmakers on our O is the third string RB and one offensive lineman. Your most important position QB is way better than ours as well and will be for the next two years likely.

All good I know recruit services are not Gospel and less accurate as you move down but good luck with 100+ classes, all the teams in that area seem to do ok......03-lmfao

You also implied that our success the first two years was due to playing FBS players while GS has been using FCS players. In case you're wondering half of our starters THIS year will still be FCS guys.

I didnt imply you inferred. Just about our entire offensive output from last year is returning FCS...please bro. You started Lamb year one.

Actually Lamb red-shirted his first year then got his first start at USM in 2014. So he was an FCS recruit.
