2017 football recruiting
Cards pick up a commitment from a Scout 4* OG Caleb Chandler 6'5" 302#'s out of Jefferson, Georgia. He chose the Cards over such schools as Miami, Mississippi St., Oregon, West Virginia, and Florida. Chandler is the 3rd offensive line commitment in the class of 2017 joining fellow commits Cole Bentley and Ronald Rudd.

Scout's official evaluation asserted that "Chandler is an offensive tackle in high school, but his highest ceiling may be at guard on the next level. He is a finisher. Chandler loves to finisher his blocks and to put his opponent in the dirt. He has very good quickness off the ball and he really can fire off the ball low with good pad level."

Chandler will be a welcome addition to the Cardinals.

Even though it's unclear where he'll slot in along Louisville's offensive line, Chandler's ability to play as a tackle or guard might make him an instant-impact contributor once he adjusts to life in a new scheme.

RE: 2017 football recruiting
I saw U of L and VT pulled in some nice commits this past week. Looks to be a solid ACC recruiting season this year.

RE: 2017 football recruiting
VT is putting together a heck of a recruiting class.

Devon Hunter is widely considered the second overall prospect in the state of Virginia behind FSU commit Khalan Laborn, and Hunter committed last Friday.

Over the weekend, VT flipped 4-star LB Dylan Rivers from Penn State.

In addition, signs are pointing towards positive results with both DE/TE Tyjuan Garbutt (rumored to be deciding between VT & Pitt) and OL Mekhi Becton (long considered a UVA lean).

Fuente and company are doing a bang-up job on this first full recruiting class and if things play out the way they're rumored, could potentially bring in VT's best recruiting class ever.

We already established that Fuente and company can coach. If they can also recruit, the rest of the Coastal is playing for 2nd most years.

Barring anything unexpected Clemson closes out it's 2017 class with tonight's commitment of Jennings, LA running back Travis Etienne. Clemson beat out LSU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M for his commitment.

Etinenne is the #8 RB in the country per 247 Sports.

No huge surprises that I see in ACC rankings.

In the national rankings too many teams over 50. Also need more 5* players going to the conference.

Think Clemson makes a big jump there in 2018.

RE: 2017 football recruiting
With the 2017 class done and just waiting on the faxes to roll in on Signing Day Clemson is working hard on 2018 and beyond.

Yesterday they held an Elite Junior Day and i proved fruitful getting commits from the 247 #2 and #4 players in SC.

First off was South Point WR Derion Kendrick, rated as a four star and the #10 WR in the country. He's 6'1" 195lbs. Plays QB for South Point but projects as a WR at the next level and that;s what Clemson recruited him for.

Next was Lewisville DT Josh Belk. Rated as a four star and the #12 DT in the country. He's 6'3" 282lbs.

Clemson now has five commits already for the 2018 class.

Louisville snagged Becton, which is a pleasant surprise. He had lots of attention late in the recruiting process, including Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon and Virginia Tech.

The Cards' O-Line needs help, and Becton is a big piece of trying to upgrade this position. This is probably the most highly regarded group of O-Line recruits in U of L history. Hopefully, they continue to work hard to justify their rankings. Time will tell, of course.
