Just spoke with Josh Thiel, Assistant AD for Development. Dr. K if having his staff make a strong push this final week to try to close the gap-- and match-- last year's record Owl Club contributions. Yes, the funding is critically important in both supporting our student-athletes and enabling our Athletic Department to continue to move forward, but it also signals to the Board of Trustees the strong support for Rice athletics amongst the alumni base...which, in turn, positively influences their willingness to approve and provide funding for additional improvements.

Failing to match last year's participation rate (and total number of Owl Club donors) and contribution level will not help the cause.

I you have yet to make your 2015 - '16 gift, please reconsider. Any size gift will help the effort and provide a sign of support.

I renewed at same level as last year.

I re-upped yesterday at the same level I gave last Fall, but this gift counting toward my 2016 - '17 donation (and benefits). This allows them to count the money toward their 2015 - '16 revenues.
