Louisiana sheriff protects football players
A Louisiana DA protected football players (note it was the DA, not the sheriff as I put in the title). They did happen to be Alabama players.

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning," district attorney Jerry Jones told KNOE-TV.

The only "shocking" thing is that these guys were Alabama players instead of LSU ones.
But, they were local guys, "hard working football players" and hometown heroes so, yeah.....they are protected.
That happens a lot in this state. It is just unusual that they weren't Tigahs.

I don't give a **** about the marijuana, but the stolen handguns? JFC... This is why the NFL should have a D-league so that trash like this doesn't have to set foot on a university campus. No doubt that neither are "killing it" academically...

Native Louisiana people always say "Thank God for Mississippi" since the Bayou State ends up 49th in a lot of national rankings and the Magnolia State ends up 50th.

I grew up in Pennsylvania. I am still an unacclimated, unrepentent Yankee after 33 years here. I have no emotional ties to Louisiana, at all.

21 years here after growing up in Maryland and feel the same, lol. Though ironically, my Yankee transplant wife of 4 years has opened my eyes to a lot of good dining and shopping in BR i never knew existed.
I do love New Orleans, though.

Pennsylvania has been described as Pittsburgh in the West, Philadelphia in the East, and Alabama in the middle.
I grew up near Pittsburgh.
It is Central Pa. that is similar to the redneck of your woods in Alabama. :)
Think Penn State territory around State College, Pa.
I am very familiar with both states.
I have visited and traveled through Alabama often.
Birmingham, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Mobile (my favorite part of Bama), Huntsville, Ft. Payne, Phenix City,etc.... I have been there often.
