As for me, I like having my one big gun. But if we are talking WBB I too prefer a more balanced attack.

That sounds good, but I liked the Men's basketball team with Ron Curry better, than withiut.

As long as the pistols are strong enough, I'm ok without the one big gun.

Personally I would rather have three big guns and a complimentary set of pistols. They seems to be a pretty good recipe for success on most levels.

I think about how good we could have been with Cooke, Curry and Nation. Nation brought everyone else down. Once he was gone, Cooke and Curry flourished. Perhaps they both learned from Nation by watching what not to do.

Put the men's basketball talk where it belongs. This is about the women's team.

RE: Future WBB Schedule
Anyone know when the WBB team can start practice? Is it around the same time as the MBB USVI trip? I am looking forward to hearing feedback from Coach O and Josh Walfish about what we can expect from this team, and how to distribute PH's contributions last year.

PS. Don't know if this was posted here before, but here is an article on the latest transfer, Jackie Benitez from Siena.

She sounds like a real asset. Maybe another P. Hall or Perez!

I haven't heard anything about the Lady D's going on an August overseas tour this year. I believe they will start practice the same time as everybody else on the official first allowable date which will be late September.

A little OT here, but how crazy is it that the NCAA prevents year-round practice at the Division 1 level, but Virginia's VHSL allows teams to practice year-round with only 2 or 3 "dead weeks" total throughout the year. Seems so out-of-wack to me.

That does seem strange to me. The only team that should not be allowed to practice the whole year round is UConn. I know they didn't win last year, but still.

The coaches in VA take advantage of the VHSL policy with pretty much year round 'voluntary' workouts/conditioning when not in season.

I may be misunderstanding your comment, but it sounds like you don't realize VHSL deregulated their old year-round practice restrictions a few years back. There are no rules except something like 2-3 weeks of "dead periods".

I realize coaches used to break the rules routinely because it was so easy (& zero consequences), but I don't think the current situation is the right solution. It looks even more ridiculous when compared with the more stringent NCAA rules.

For clarity, VHSL now allows official year-round practicing for HS sports.

RE: Future WBB Schedule
Just had a crazy thought. Tennessee women do an exhibition every year, just for fun, with D-II Carson-Newman University, which is some 15 miles up the road. It's always a complete rout, but the CN coach says his girls learn a lot, and everyone has a good time. It might be fun if JMU did a similar one with EMU to open the season, instead of some school in East Nowhere, WV.

RE: Future WBB Schedule
Remember back in the day when folks would just release information? Now, you have to build it up. A release notice to advise when the actual release will take place. Kinda like the 5pm local news let's us know what's coming up on the 6pm news. And then, they do it again.

I guess I should have released an advised upcoming reply in this thread before releasing this reply. You know, to build up the release. In the mean time, I will release a lot of blue flamers (terrific Mexican food for lunch today). Now, back to our regularly scheduled release of when more releases will take place.

Hyped to check out the schedule to see which games I can attend.

Maybe more importantly, when are bjk3047 & I taking our annual WBB trip to Philly?

RE: Future WBB Schedule
Looks like wife and I will be able to make most of the home OCC games. Will miss the one on 11/18 as we are planning on being at the JMU/Elon football game down at Elon. Might also miss the exhibition game against CNU as we will be coming back from the football game at URI. We shall see.

Go Dukes!!
