The city is too spread out to walk anywhere
That's why Uber is a godsend in Lafayette
Thanks guys. That was my impression when I went there for the Jags game 2 years ago. Thought maybe I was missing a "town square" type area or something.
Well, yes, but we didn't mention downtown. It's full of restaurants, bars etc.....and very easy to walk from one to the other. Just uber to downtown, do what ya gotta do, then uber back. Uber rides would easily be under 10 bucks each way.....and well worth it. If you do decide to go downtown, besides French Press, there's also pamplonas, a tapas bar (I highly recommend), tsunami for great sushi, and lots of others, too. Let us know where you leaning and we give you more detail info.
Awesome. I guess I didn't find a downtown Lafayette when I was there before.
During the warmer months there is a lot of activities downtown with Downtown Alive which is Friday night free music on the street where they close off the area to traffic. There are art walks on various weekends as well as the normal food/beverage options. Below is the homepage for Downtown Lafayette.

If you are ever coming for a Cajun sporting event try to stay at Hilton garden inn on congress. It's across from the complex and maybe 2-3 miles from downtown. If that's not available there are a couple hotels in river ranch that also has a lot of things very close. A few bars a resteraunts within walking distance. Nightlife if you are 21-30 I'd go downtown. If 30 and over go the river ranch route. You won't have a bad team either way just giving you an idea of the different scenery. Pop's poboys, old Tyme grocery, don's seafood hut, fezzo's are all good places along with several hundred others. Not hard to find great food and a good time anywhere in lafayette.
