Great news about the 96% filled rate. Have any of you tried the new Cajun style restaurant directly across the street? I am intending to do so.

I got my shoestring caught in the escalator there at Sears Crosstown when I was 3 or 4.
Memories.

Been there twice and the food was excellent. My only complaint was that it is a bit pricey, but, what isn't in today's economy. Can't go out to lunch for less than $10 at most places.

I had the e'toufee poboy. that was some good eats.

That's a couple of blocks from me. Not much to look at but the food is legit.

Worked in the Sears warehouse on 3rd floor which as hardware, tools, etc. and 1st floor which was tires for 1 year 'tween high school and UofM. That is all it took for me to realize making $10 per hour will not get it done.

Smart you are. Just about everyone has worked at Sears at some time in their life.

Try Broad street annex , then Crosstown and finally Poplar and Perkins.
Next , on to trucking industry. Good experiences all. 04-rock

As I said, just about everyone has worked at Sears at some time in their life.

maybe if you're 50 or older...most people around here work for FedEx, AutoZone, International Paper, ServiceMaster, St Jude, etc.

Hyperbole much? To my knowledge, I don't know a single person that has worked at Sears, and I know a lot of people, young, old and in between.

It will be interesting to see how much (or little) the reopening of this building leads to other redevelopment in the Crosstown area. The area around Cleveland and Poplar is pretty seedy these days.

Kroger just spent 4 million to renovate that store, and Walgreen's just finished a 200k remodel...the Pirtle's there is on point...so define "seedy"

1. Tech High School looks abandoned.

2. The neighborhood SE of the Poplar & Cleveland has been completely demolished. It looks like they dropped the bomb there.

3. There are empty lots just north of Sacred Heart.

4. There are some really seedy apartments due west of Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church.

5. There is blood donation center across Cleveland from the back of the Kroger building.

6. There is another empty lot surrounded by barbed wire fencing and a crappy used car dealership across Cleveland from Sacred Heart.

7. There is what appears to be homeless camp behind Sacred Heart at the corner of Jefferson and Claybrook.

Shall I continue?

Tech is abandoned...it's 80 some odd years old and needs to be torn down...maybe turned into Apts or something.
