RE: BB Recruiting
Anybody have any updates on who we're strong with for the 2017 Recruiting Class as we've gotten several oral commitments in the past few years during the summer months for upcoming Seniors?

Some Ken Epperson in his game: plays in the paint, strong and good body control. Love all the blocks but he won't get those at 6'5" in the MAC. Didn't see much of a perimeter game .

RE: BB Recruiting
Those are sophomore year videos. here's an early jr yr highlight reel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6djKiHZxDGU

lots of dunks. has a nice mix of athleticism and strength. the question is sometimes guys who have that already in hs can look really good at that level but become rather ordinary at the college level where the competition has comparable athleticism. his highlight reel doesn't show a lot of skill outside of being fairly crafty around the rim offensively. looks like a high motor guy. clearly a D1 level talent but maybe someone out there knows more about his overall game.

RE: BB Recruiting
He;s actually not the highest recruited player on his HS team. That would go to Kyle Young who exploded this spring and summer and received offers from OSU, MSu most other B1G programs and many others like Xavier and Butler. Hill played inside d/t Young who is being recruited as 6'7" 3 or stretch 4 in college. This summer Hill has played a lot of 3 and 4 for All-Ohio Red. Needs to improve his handles and jump shot, but is a D1 athlete. If he was a better shooter from long range he would be consider a lower B1G or high mid major recruit.
Nice get out of Akron and Kent States back yard.

Seems like a solid player with physical abilities that can fine tune his game.

RE: BB Recruiting
He was 6-5 as a sophomore. Not saying that everyone keeps growing, but 6-7 as a senior wouldn't be unusual. I would be surprised if coach K would bring in a 6-5 forward unless he had crazy athletic skills.

RE: BB Recruiting
I love his rough and tumble style but there must be some mistake, Coach K doesn't recruit players that play defense.

RE: BB Recruiting
Comes from a solid program that won states even without top DI recruit type players. No players in the last 6-7 years that I've found have really gone on to great success at the college level. Couple ways to read that. Their players know the game, they come in well coached but that may belie their potential. Look forward to seeing what the kid can do.

Didn't see him play much defense beyond blocking shots which doesn't tell you much except he's athletic. There's still hope that he'll be lost on switches and lazy jumping out on three point shooters.

That guy you're thinking of, I think went to Perry. His father coached Jackson.

Well, there's fact that can be looked up and there's opinions to be shared and debated. I'm always (obviously) up for a good sharing/debate/how do we fix the world.

I had a mental connection with him to Perry but I was thinking he had played for his father so, we were both wrong on the facts. Bet we'll both be right next time the topic comes up.

RE: BB Recruiting
from - SCOUTING THE BUCKEYE AND BLUEGRASS STATES

https://tripledoubleprospects.com/

Logan Hill – ’16 PF Massillon Jackson: Another highly recruited prospect by in-state mid-major programs, Hill also made a verbal commitment within the last few days; choosing the Toledo Rockets as his future home for college basketball. Hill was the target of almost the entire MAC due to his athleticism, motor and rebounding ability, as he has proven to be an effective role player at the Nike EYBL level with All-Ohio Red, despite not having natural power forward size for the mid-major level. With Hill expected to make up part of the one-two scoring punch, along with Kyle Young, next year at Massillon Jackson, the Rockets staff made sure to get their commitment from the 6’6 forward early, as they held off other programs such as Bowling Green, St. Francis (PA), High Point and Florida Atlantic.

RE: BB Recruiting
I like getting a role player type in a bigger class like this. Hill strikes me as somewhere between Lauf and JD Witherspoon. His game is more hustle and athleticism than skill. He's a similar tweener forward type as Spoon. PF game with SF size. Like Spoon he is a quick leaper, although he doesn't jump out the gym in quite the same way, the amount of time it takes him from touching the ball to flushing it through the rim is very short. Like Lauf he is a high motor guy who seems to love the competitive aspect of the game. Probably will never be an all-mac player but could quickly earn a role as a guy who can get rebounds, stay within himself on offense and fire up the crowd with floor burns and dunks.
