Cool OT: Soccer (Copa America/Euro)
Now that the US is in the Semis of the Copa, I thought it'd be good to create a thread for the two major tournaments happening this summer.

In the COPA: For the US, Klinsman is doing a decent job at saving his job right now I think. Jermaine Jones was an idiot to throw a half assed punch to get a red. If you're gonna "strike or attempting to strike an opponent" make it worth it. Mexico looks like a bat outta hell and are playing very well. Argentina hasn't really played as well as I expected them to. Brazil was a huge disappointment.

Well, Mexico was playing well. Almost their worst loss in national team history last night and their worst loss ever in a major tournament. The US has met Klinsmann's goal by getting into the semis, but they have zero chance against Argentina, IMO.

Agreed. The wheels just fell off of Mexico in the second half last night. Pity that that powerful front three couldn't do anything last night. I think Argentina has some weaknesses that were flashed against Venezuela. We just have to capitalize on their mistakes and have our defense hold up against their attack. Oh yeah, and contain a forward by the name of Messi.

My Ukraine was the first nation eliminated from the Euro2016. We still have a game against Poland tomorrow, but we do not have even a mathematical chance to advance. I am sad.

On the bright side, Ukraine still has beautiful women.

RE: OT: Soccer (Copa America/Euro)
The US would only have a very slight chance with a full roster. Argentina is simply on a different talent level than the Americans.

With 3 starters out, they officially have zero chance.

Argentina wins 4-0, 5-0, something like that.

This Argentina team is not as good as that Spain team, and this USA team is better team than the 2009 team even with the three starters out. The USA gets two extra days of rest compared to Argentina, and the game is being played on American soil. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I don't think its going to be that bad of a loss and I actually think we have a decent chance.

RE: OT: Soccer (Copa America/Euro)
It also depends on who replaces Bedoya, Jones, and Wood in the starting XI. It could end up being a blessing in disguise for the future if it gives Pulisic and Nagbe some needed tournament experience before the 2018 World Cup. I think Wood is the biggest loss as he has been playing well this tournament.

However, knowing Klinsy we will likely see Zusi, Beckerman, and one of the others in the starting XI. Which in my opinion is just asking to get beat by Argentina.

Hoping for...

--------------Zardes------Dempsey-------
--------FJ-----Nagbe-------MB------Zusi----
--Besler----BerlinWall---Cameron------Yedlin--
-----------------------Guzan-----------------------

I think we'll get

--------------Zardes------Dempsey-------
----Nagbe-------------------------------Zusi
------------Beckerman------------MB----------
--FJ------BerlinWall---Cameron------Yedlin--
-----------------------Guzan-----------------------

I just hope like hell we see Nagbe on the pitch. His ball possession skills will be key.

I wouldn't be surprised if we started Pulisic instead of Nagbe, but I also am hoping for your first lineup.

I doubt we'll line up in a diamond midfield 4-4-2, probably a 4-2-3-1 with a double pivot and Deuce playing deeper. I don't like it, but that's more likely.
