How about Gordon Gee?
Cold Day in Hell before any UC fan should ever accept Gee as president. Not after he flat out admitted he worked against UC while at tOSU.
Agree. Neither one.

I've worked with three different people having engineering degrees from UL. All of them were quite sharp. And that's all I have to say about that.

My niece married a Louisville engineer/baseball player - he's both very athletic and very smart. Was playing minor league ball until recently, but was good enough that he had an engineering job waiting for him while he wasn't playing ball.
All this is anecdotal, but the point is that like UC, UL has beefed up admissions and they are able to attract a better student than they did in the past.

RE: OT: Big Trouble in Little Louisville
As a third generation grad this news was sad to me in a number of ways. President Ramsey did a lot of good for the school but in the end some of the things he was allowing and doing cost him dearly. It is a shame as the school was improving. My grandfather went there after retiring from the Air Force and went on to become Vice President of the University of Nebraska, my dad graduated with a mechanical engineering degree for undergrad and then a masters at Rose Hulman with a 3.8 and now works as an engineer for the Navy. Of course you all know what I am doing.
I've generally not brought up my ties there when interacting with folks as it has legitimately made a few folks not want to work with me which is ridiculous. However, I did want to add my two cents in this thread. I also made it known to co-workers that I believe Rick should have been canned after the KP crap. Frustrating times for an alumnus.

I both like Louisville as a historic rival and contemporary of UC but also think they have sold their collective soul for athletic success and have grown to despise their fans.
I marked the title of the thread "OT" because it really has little to do directly with UC but figured it's of interest to our fans who have traditionally had ties with UL...

I have a lot of ties to UofL. My parents live in Louisville and my sister is a UofL grad (nursing).
As to their fans, I think their older fans still have a lot of respect for UC and our history together. Occasionally you will find them supporting UC on their boards and advocating for inclusion into the P5. The younger group of fans (the ones who started following the program within the past decade) not so much.
I was thinking this weekend that as we search for a new president for UC, there seems to be a large number of vacancies right now (FBS schools only). Off the top of my head I can think of the three in the Big 12, Louisville and UC. I am sure there might be others. This could ultimately effect UC in terms of we may have fierce competition for a candidate we covet.

Yeah, that's not a good sign whatsoever...and for a state that already has among the bottom third in post-secondary funding disbursement. Gotta love the Tea Party.
This has little to do with politics, and more to do with restraint.
The $$$ excesses of public universities are so obviou that your Tea Party comment is childlike.
Reform is needed.
