RE: How much do you give back to your school?
With season tickets and Big Green donation, it is well over $500.

Money spent on other things in association with the season....who knows!

Around $1K a year, that doesn't factor in the $2K spent when we started football to purchase my seat licenses.

There, I edited it so the pedophiles don't get excited.

$1000 per year in Eagle Club dues plus season tickets. I didn't attend Southern Miss though. Arizona alumni, just fell in love with Golden Eagle football and baseball when I moved to Hattiesburg in the 80's.

We run off a priority point system where you are awarded points for various things, 1 point for every $100 in donation to the Big Green Scholarship fund, 2 points for every $100 given to the Vision Campaign, 1 point for every $200 given to a specific sport booster club, a point for each year you get season tickets, and a few other things. Your priority point ranking determines the pecking order on away game tickets, seat selection when they do reseating, prime lot tailgating spots, etc. this has been in place for 30 years.

I won't say what I give, but I'm just outside the top 100 in total priority points and I've only been giving for 11 years. My goal is to be in the top 50 someday (I'm competitive by nature and want the team to do well so I can continue to talk crap on here). Short of winning the lottery that's about as high as you can get. It takes millions to get to the top 25.

With that said, anyone who takes the time to post on a board like this obviously cares about their program, and if you care you find a way to give something. A hundred a year is less than $2 a week. If you're young and just getting started in life, if you pack your lunch one or two extra days a month instead of eating out and throw that money into a bucket, that hundred, and then some, is available. Throw your loose change in a bucket and over the course of a year that will be at least a couple hundred.

Wish we had a point system that included length of giving. We have too many people that join then quit after disappointing seasons. Loyalty should be rewarded as much as what you give.

I think it's a major flaw in our system.

I buy season tickets in football and basketball. I don't go to every game, as I live several hundred miles away, but I do go to some. I am a member of the Owl Club, not at the lowest level, but a couple of levels above that. I contribute to the University Annual Fund.

I agree but I didn't plan ahead and didn't figure out how to add a couple more levels!
Mostly just wanted to spark some discussion.

Yeah it is one of my favorite things. I am young and just starting a family. Sometimes things come up and you can't give as much as normal. I still make sure to give every year, just to maintain my consecutive years of giving.

Seat renewals will be up here in another year or so (I think.) I can't wait to try and improve my seats for the next 5 years.

I just got my bill for season basketball tickets. $1,340.00 in addition to what I am paying for football tickets.

That sounds like a really good system you guys have.

RE: How much do you give back to your school?
With annual football season tickets for my entire family, and alumni association, and attending games throughout the year in other sports it is over $1,000. Wish I could give more but I've got a wife and kids so gotta keep them housed and fed lol.

There is nothing to give back to the school for.
Simply giving.. that's a different story.

I don't know about that. Because of the giving of others, including those who established the Endowment, I attended Rice free of charge. I feel obligated to give back, and recreate that amazing opportunity for future Owls. From the first moment in physical chemistry class (taught by Dr. Curl, who would win a Nobel Prize in 1996), I realized I was at a remarkable place surrounded by incredible talent.
