As soon as he gets eligible he'll go to the first SEC or ACC team that sneaks his "advisors" a big check.

LOL I love this .. “may not have a diploma”
Funny, I can’t remember anyone from my school leaving without being sure if they had a diploma or not

Thinking there might be some big news coming our way, nothing solid. But we're in on a good one.

ODU could be in the mix for 6-11 Providence Transfer Dajour Dickens. He red shirted this year at Providence. He has work to do if he wants to see the floor especially on the defensive side. He could help us in a year.

You mean 4 star, top-100 recruit Dajour from Bethel HS. I thought he was very athletic, long and a solid defensive player, he blocks everything. Runs the floor as well as 6-6 wing and looks to dunk. I don't like people comparing players, but he reminds me of a stronger Porter. He's higher rated coming out of HS. I think PC was hoping he could play back to the rim game, I don't think he was there yet for Big East play. He would be an excellent addition for us. Let's hope he wants to come home and be a Monarch.

I agree. Sounds like he would be an excellent addition and would also add some nice size to the front line. Hope to see him playing back home at ODU. 07-coffee3

Are you guys talking about the same player? Is he 6-11 or 6-6?

He's listed at 7-0. BTW DaBig wasn't saying he's a 6-6 wing. He was saying he can run the floor like one.

Know him very well and yes he is athletic but to become a BASKETBALL player at D1 level he has more work to do ! He needs work defensively and strength. He is a lot like Porter as a freshman at GMU. Did not say he was a bad player. All I was saying is if he transfers he would have to sit and really develop more.

Thanks Mr.BigBlue! If he decides to come to ODU, I feel good about the chances of his development based upon what we saw with Trey. That’s definitely a risk that I think is worth taking!

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018
He played with Cam Bacote in the state championship 2 seasons ago vs LC Bird.

Would love to have a young buck big like him but like others have said, hes pretty raw and definitely has some work to do.

Being close to 7'-0" in high school I feel like you should dominate and he did not.

Beggers cant be choosers though and from the way the early offseason has gone at ODU Id welcome him with open arms. Hope he comes.

He'll be on campus this weekend, hopefully he sees the fit and wants to be a Hometown Hero as a Monarch.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018
I would love to have Dickens on the team, he is all of 7 foot and we have a need. His defense around the rim is very good, one game in HS he had 8 or 9 block shots. Has quick feet for a big. He is already stronger than Trey was when he left. Here's hoping we get the big guy.

Question with the changes to the NCAA, is Dickens required to sit out a year or can he play with a waiver? I just don't know, only played 3 games.

In HS the scouting services were saying.
Scout.com Brian Snow wrote: “While he isn’t quite ready physically, there is no denying the type of upside Dickens has. Quite honestly there are just a very small number of prospects in the country that have his combination of height, length, athleticism, and ability to run the floor.”

Hoopseen.com Corey Evans: “Dickens is very mobile as he gets up and down the floor like someone six inches shorter than his actual standing stature and has quality touch around the basket. While his motor and consistent production has sometimes been an issue with him, his basketball ceiling never has. He can score facing the basket out to 15-feet out and also convert over his left shoulder within the post. Sporting great length and a good feel for the game at the 5-spot..."

One thing I like about the prospect of Dickens coming to ODU ( other than the obvious of needing him) is he helps keep the 757 pipeline going for us. Having Godwin here after Baker was basically a 4 year starter and then having Dickens would be a big plus. Add in the recruitment of Wade from Richmond and possibly Jarvis ( from Staunton is it?) it tells me that our coaching staff is finally making some inroads around the Commonwealth. That is huge in my thinking.

Not in HS, Godwin went to Hampton and Dickens was at Bethel, arch rivals. Dickens played in HS with Cam Bacote and is close to the Bacote family. Also add Aaron to the above list, another hometown guy, which makes them a fan favorite. Godwin and Dickens played on Boo's EYBL team in the spring and summer of 2016.

Dickens had close to 30 offers out of HS including VaTech and UVa.

Here's a pic of Dickens and Godwin.
