He's an average defender, too. Not the end of the world if we re-sign him but I'd rather we don't.

Good question. I do not know the answer, but I am certain the Griz will attempt to find the best player possible.

These stats- are they for last season, last 5 seasons, etc.? Career?
Not enough context.

RE: Interesting Mike Conley Stats...
There is not another adequate PG to thrust into the starting lineup should Conley leave, especially since the team doesn't even have a proven backup at this time. That is why he will get max, or near max, money from the Grizz. He is worth it to them. Whether or not he is worth it to another team is irrelevant.

I was splitting the difference between what others can give him over 4 years ($18M per) and what we can over 5 years ($25M per)

If we sign him to $25M per...SMH!

Better? No one. But I'd consider signing a lesser player to a short term deal before I'd ever pay Conley $25M per year.

My bad... that's for the 2015-16 season.

Don't necessarily get one "better" but I will say Chalmers was about on par with Conley until Mario got injured.

The better way to look at it is what can the Grizz get with $30 million?

They can re-sign Conley and vet a mid-level exception FA for $30

Or they can get a $12 million dollar guy, a $10 million guy, an MLE, and a veteran minimum with that same $30 million.

Agree with you. We lose Conley, our win total next season drops by at least 10 and we probably miss the playoffs.

RE: Interesting Mike Conley Stats...
Remember, we once overpaid Rudy Gay because there weren't better alternatives.

Conley is obviously a better fit than Rudy was...but I just don't think you ever overpay a guy just because the alternatives aren't as good. Especially when the gap between the alternatives isn't HUGE. Keep in mind, Conley had a very similar season to Deron Williams...who made $5.5M last year at age 31.

If Conley isn't resigned, then I would say that would be the signal that they are blowing it up and starting over. If Conley isn't signed, I am guessing that Z-bo is traded at the next deadline and the slow ugly rebuild starts.

No need to keep Marc if that's the play...we need picks for a rebuild and Marc & Mike are the only 2 guys that can get us those. If Mike walks, then all we have to leverage for premium picks is Marc.

At that point I'd want to get a new GM as well. Someone with a proven ability to hit a high % of draft picks.

if Conley is not signed then Grizzly management is completely inept, he wants to come back, his price has been pretty much known for a year and they choose not to trade him during a middling season.

Mike will be back and weak minded fans in the Mid South will be pissed off at the size of his contract.

From a fan perspective, it will be great seeing Conley in a Griz uniform next year. I think he is a Griz fan favorite.

Agree with your top line, but I'm not sure why fans who don't think the guy is worth $25M per year are weak minded

Stupid to pay a guy with those stats over 20 mil a year. He's not worth half that. There are plenty of serviceable point guards out there.

Great time to be a NBA FA.

Harrison Barnes, who had a eFG% of 20% in the last 3 games of the NBA Finals (along with 9 reb and 2 assts TOTAL), could get max money this off-season...

Festus Ezeli & Bismack Biyambo are both going to get 8-figure salaries if they want it.

A lot of teams are going to make mistakes, us included. At least ours will keep us competitive for a few years.

They may be out there, but they aren't attainable. If you believe they are, please name a few.
