RE: SUMMER WORKOUT UPDATES ??
Huff has the talent to be special. Will he "Pay the Rent" and do "The Work".
Seems like he's the type of guy that really needs a mentor. A guy like Spann or the Burner to swing by this summer and remind him how quickly this window of opportunity can close.
It's now or never for Huff. And it's up to him.

RE: SUMMER WORKOUT UPDATES ??
Hopefully, Huff will understand what he has to do to get reps. He is definitely talented. Now he has to work hard in practice to earn the carries. Talent alone does not cut it at this level. ACRB might not be as gifted but he works hard and has a high football IQ. He might not hit the home run but he does not strike out as much.

RE: SUMMER WORKOUT UPDATES ??
Yea I really hope Huff does whatever he needs to do to get more carries. In terms of sheer running I think he's one of the best in the MAC, though still with limited reps. Bouagnon is solid and dependable but it would be nice to once again have a game-breaker. Unless you have a top-notch QB, you need that.

RE: SUMMER WORKOUT UPDATES ??
IMO all good points about Huff. I wonder if he was in the Carey's or the former OC dog house (or both)? What I noticed about Huff's blocking is that on several jet sweeps I have seen him throw some good blocks (the Ohio St. TD jet sweep comes to mind), but we all saw that complete whiff in the backfield last year! I hope he works hard and improves that part of his game; he has some special skills and could be a real game-changer! I like ACRB and I sense that he works hard, but he just does not have the same game-changing skills that Huff has IMO.
I am torn about the #2 QB. I agree that Maddie never really has had a chance; there is probably a good reason for that! I was not impressed with Santa's stats coming our of HS, but there are so many things that could effect stats, such as the quality of his O-line and receivers in HS. Plus, we all know it is how the player develops when he gets here. It seems to be between Maddie and Santa for the # 2 QB spot, although that could change in the summer and beyond. I am sure hoping that Drew is good to go so we don't have find out which guy is #2, or perhaps 2A, 2B, etc.
If we do hang onto Rodney Hall I see him competing for the starting job as a true freshman. However, that would not say much about the other guys, plus a true or red-shirt freshman as our starting QB? As great as CH was, even he struggled in his freshman year at times.

See, your assessment SC is more meaningful to me than what a coach might say in a q&a. Which is why I (and I bet others) are starving a little for some camp info.
I'm not as "on the field" in touch with the team as some of the people around here, but I've been able to see bits and pieces of the drills

Maddie deserves and has earned the #2 spot behind Hare; I am not sure HS stats mean much; but I don't understand the point about Santa's HS numbers; his bio says he threw for 50 TD's and nearly 5,000 yards in 2 years.

Hall won't be in the running foe a starting QB position. He is not going to beat Hare out.

Drew Hare is a red shirt senior this year.

Obviously...being that Hare is graduating after this season before Hall even gets here

Hall will not even compete as true FR for the QB job. He may be ready to go his 3rd year. He needs alot of work.to play QB. Top athlete, could play multiple positions.

Most likely a RS candidate at QB. Next year you are probably looking at Santa or Graham as our QB, which I'm not sure how successful those guys can be.

RE: SUMMER WORKOUT UPDATES ??
I am probably the only guy on this board who is bullish on our QBs. I believe Maddie will do a great job if he plays this year, and that Graham and Santa can both be very good. Santa might have more upside and could be great in our system but I think Graham can get a lot better too. He was only a freshman last year and did some really good things in pressure situations. He had his hiccups too as freshmen will but there's no reason he can't develop a lot more in the coming years.

Agree on Graham. Don't know about Santana have not seen him play. Graham shows toughness and knows how to play.
Fiedler? He may not have the skills, but he is tough. To be thrown on that stage as a true freshman walk-on he did the best with what he has. Can't ask more of your players.

Jokes aside Tommy Fiedler competed the best he could with little preparation. If we ever see him taking snaps again this year, he either beat out Hare for the starting spot or WW3 started and all our Quarterbacks got drafted to go fight Isis.

Considering he is a walk on true freshman, which you can pretty much assume he took little to no snaps until Hare went down, he did phenomenal. Could definitely make an impact in the future, but not foreseeable future.

Only one may be a little extreme.
In the minority, likely.
In spurts they may have success, especially vs. lesser teams. If relied on for a whole season, I don't think it would not go well, especially against better competition. One would have to stand out, get PT and grow. There would be little or no chance playing all three backups, by design or need.
As Thom once said, "It's a recipe forrrr disassssster."

C'mon...we gotta show Fiedler a little love... Tommy F did an amazing job considering the circumstances. I think he showed some promise, if nothing else, some balls, stepping up in a pressure situation. If Santa ends up being a stud 4 years from now as a senior, it's will be all due to what Fiedler did last year...by playing, he saved a red shirt.
