I find it interesting that most Tulane fans were not aware that Tulane submitted a bid to play the super-regiional at Zephyr weeks ago. Once Tulane secured a national seed it was a matter of fact where the games would be played. I know many are disappointed to be playing at Zephyr, but we should realize that the AD studied the situation very carefully for weeks before making the decision. We should all trust in Dickson's judgement to do what's best for Tulane.

I heard on WWL tonight that the super at Zephyr will be played Sat, Sun, and Mon, not the usual Friday night start. I'm guessing it's to get around a Zephyr's home game. That's probably the only super with that set up. I don't know how all this works really. The national seeds are guaranteed to host supers provided they get out of their regionals. Do the national seeds get to choose the host site? If the NCAA, not Tulane, is going to make all the money on the super regional, why would we not choose to host at Turchin? Somehow I think we are at the mercy of the NCAA, even with our #1 national seed, otherwise why would we waste our time at Zephyr, especially given that we won't finish our super until Monday, unless of course we win the first two. On top of that all five LA schools in the post season have to compete for ONE spot in Omaha. I don't get it. I think Tulane, and LA in general has taken it up the chute.

I heard that we submitted 2 bids for the Super Regional, one for Turchin and one for Zephyr. We did this so that we could make up our minds after the Regional.
In my opinion, if we win our Regional and LSU wins theirs, we should play at Turchin because that would give us home crowd advantage. One caveat to that is that Zephyr may give us an advantage because it's a bigger ballpark, thus negating LSU's power hitting. If Rice wins the Baton Rouge Regional, I would definitely play at Turchin.
Just a thought.

Yes, Tulane did submit bids for both Turchin and Zephyr for the super-regional. It is now up to the NCAA to choose one.

If that's how it works, why woulld we submit bids for both? The NCAA would select Zephyr no matter what. I thought it was up to Tulane.

Nope. It is up to the NCAA. Two bids were offered to increase Tulane's chances of hosting.

How would 2 bids increase our chances of hosting? Zephyr is obviously the higher ($ of the two bids, so why didn't we just save the trouble and only submit a bid for Zephyr? If it's up to the NCAA, they're going to pick the higher bid every time. Why would they pick Turchin over Zephyr?

Not necessarily. Zypher is not a guaranteed sell-out. So, depending on who your oppostion is, a scaled house at Turchin could be the better deal.

I guess I don't understand how the bids work. How would you structure a bid that says, "if we play Team A, the bid is $xxx, xxx at Zephyr and $yyy, yyy at Turchin; but if we play Team B, the bid is $zzz, zzz at Zephyr, but $qqq, qqq at Turchin." Aren't the bids simpler than that? Like a straight guarantee to the NCAA?
Also, my understanding is that Super Regional tickets are $45 for the 3 games. They're not scaled.

Actually, we could sell out Zephyr for Rice, but that's not why I would want to play Rice at Turchin. I would want to play Rice at Turchin because Turchin is more of a hitters ballpark than Zephyr. Since Rice has better pitching, that could work to our advantage (I think).

I'm not so sure we would sell-out Zypher against Rice. I think we could draw around 10,000, but probably not sell out. Turchin however, we would cram 6,000 in. And if it is LSU that we face, I'd much prefer Turchin.

I definitely think we would sell out Zephyr against Rice in a super. I believe we brought 7k to 8k to Zephyr against Fullerton and Az State with really no contingent of visiting fans to speak of. I think we may sell out a super with Tulane fans alone but given Rice's near proximity, SRO.
